Well for a couple of weeks now my car has been acting up. If I try to get on the gas hard it sputters like crazy before it starts going. I tried changing the plugs to NGK's step colder plugs and no luck, this morning my CEL came on.. Any ideas guys? Please help!!

i had some similar problems
and they were misfire issues...get the dealer to hook it up and let you know what the code is!

i got super lucky and the dealer reset the code and it was fixed and it only took like 2 mins haha, my buddy had the same problem and he just pulled his "main" fuse out from the fuse box under the hood and put it back in and it reset it too but, the computer had to "re learn" his driving habits which only took a few days.

i mean its worth a shot

Uh, with your mods, the dealer is going to freak and start saying "warranty void, warranty void." If you don't have a Dash Hawk, AP, or OBDII reader, just take it to Autozone and they'll hook up a reader to your port and tell you the code number and what it means.

Without that number, we're all guessing. Report back and well help you with suggestions on the fix. My early and perhaps wrong guess, based on your symptoms is that you have a leak in one of your turbo hoses, maybe just a loose hose clamp. Or you might have a vacuum line leak or a problem with lines to and from your BOV or it is adjusted wrong. But it's just a wild guess without a code number.

In any event, you will run much better and may get rid of your symptoms if you set your BOV for full recirc. Our engines need full recirc to run properly.

My bov has always been full recirc.. and I just went to autozone and had them read the code.. and it said "random multiple cylinder miss fire".. im not sure how to fix that.. could it be a coilpack?

hmmm sounds broken

See if you can get us the actual four digit CEL number. Autozone may not have the Mazda specific code manual. Get the numbers and we can help.

Based on what you said, the multi-cylinder mis-fire sounds like a tube clamp has gotten loose to or from the intake or the intercooler, or your BOV, or that you have a vacuum line leak, or the BOV has to be adjusted.

I doubt it is a coil pack problem.

See if you can get the code number. In the mean time might not be good to drive it much if you should be sucking in unflitered air somewhere in the system. It doesn't take long or unflitered air to do a lot of internal harm.

My first thoughts - loose clamps on the intake system some place. Check all your clamps and make sure they're tight.

Sounds like something that happened to me once. Check all plumbing between the MAF and trottle body. My inlet pipe came loose from the turbo and my car ran like a s*** nugget. Thats all it was.

+1...the inlet pipe is always coming loose on stock cars. Heck, one of the benefits of the aftermarket inlet pipes, is they don't come off as easy!

But ya, on this car, any type of leak anywhere in the system is going to cause major issues. Check all clamps and hoses. If you are running an aftermarket BOV, make sure you didn't pinch the vacuum line, or even worse, cut it open (from it rubbing on an aftermarket tmic).
