I was actually a beta tester for the original G-Tech Pro back in '92 or '93. That's been a while!
60's on the two better passes were a 1.85 and I think a 1.90. I wasn't even launching really hard since they were just two of my first three hot-lap passes. I really didn't expect the car to go that fast right off the street. I was just trying to get a feel for the tires.
Here's the best two timeslips:
About the tires/wheels, I nabbed this from the quarter mile thread:
These are what I intend to run on mine come spring, on a set of Rota Flights - http://store.summitracing.com/partd...317726+4294793322+4294905041+115&autoview=sku. They're a much better tire in terms of tread and they're about an inch and a half shorter than the BFGs I ran, so I'll gain some gearing, too. Since I already have to shift into fifth, I might as well get all the torque mulitplication I can.
The term "driver mod" is kinda common around the dragstrip. When I botch a run, I'll typically joke that I, "lost the driver mod." The pass in the video is actually one almost totally devoid of "driver mod." It's just the only one I had recorded.
I don't think there's anything magic about running these times, just experience. Matter of fact, after I do it, I'm going to move the tires/wheels over to Dan Murney's car (the Cosmic car in the Injen CAI video) and let him do it in his just to prove my car isn't some "freak."
UHATEIT - If you're still into 300ZXs, check this out - http://fmosracing.com/videos/james300zx.wmv (that's on pump gas). I've been preaching tires and coaching his launch for a couple of years so I'm pretty proud of how well that car is getting down the track. Should go very low 10s on good gas.

The tires were some seriously worn out BFG DRs, 255/60-16, mounted on 2nd Gen Probe GT wheels. A friend of mine ran them for a couple of years on his 300ZX (11.13@135 car on good gas). He just switched to some real fats and skinnies for the car (went 11.10@126 on pump gas Wednesday night, improved from a 1.73 best 60' to a 1.48 best 60') so I borrowed his old ones.
I really wouldn't recommend that tire for a couple of reasons. First, the BFG compound is old. Nitto, Mickey Thompson and Hoosier all make much better constructed and compounded tires now. Second, they're just too wide. They throw crap all down the side of the car when you do a burnout. If you turn onto the return road too fast, they'll rub pretty hard, too. Not sure on what, but the noise isn't pleasant...
