Yellow tinted bulbs, yellow but not crazy pure yellow like that pic.

You mean illegal?

Here in CA technically any aftermarket hid is illegal, whether is yellow, white or blue and whether its 35w or 55w.

nope it's legal... here... but you can only have 2 of em... head light can be watever under a certain wattage.

Who sells a hid hi\low kit? I use the brights a fair amount and would like hid highs as well. I like the yellow just not that yellow. would 3000k look more yellow with a 35 or 55w.
I know the blue looks more blue with a 35w but basically does the 55w make it look more white or does it make it look like a lower wavelength?

that is an HID, i'd recommend picking up a set of halogens, (factory replacement, Hellas if you wanna spend more, or find the ones that are rumored to be direct replacement from autozone) either with yellow lenses, or get in on the GB for lense protectors (its last minute right now) and get em in yellow...

for a HID hi/low kit if you want both the high and low to be HID thats known as a Bi-xenon kit...the high/low will not be seperate colors (on msp headlights) as they share the same bulb, there's just a mechanism on the bulb that moves to give you a high beam.

look up member Xenon Expert on here..he sells a Bi-xenon kit for a decent price.

3000k is too yellow for headlight use...dont go lower than 4k

the color temp (5000K, 10000K, etc) determines how blue. 3000K is yellow, 5000K is basically pure white, 12000K is UBER blueish looking (screams po-po come get me)...
if you're running H-4s (Protege sedan headlights) you'll need a bi-xenon kit to have HID lows and highs.... basically its just a solenoid in the bulb that moves the HID from the low beam focal point to the high beam focal point... fairly effective though.
