but I assume it is less efficient for 4 banger
depends what you mean. Less backpressure is ALWAYS better for a turbo.. turbo cars don't need the backpressure to make torque that NA cars do... exhaust is all about gettin the exhaust gasses thru the turbo and out the car...

exhaust is all about gettin the exhaust gasses thru the turbo and out the car...

An exhaust is only as free-flowing as its most restrictive part, which is still going to be in the area with the single pipe. Dual exhaust on an I4 is not any more efficient...it is only done for looks.

I think duals of the stock exhaust tip (one exhaust tip on each side of the car) would look good but IMHO i think that the way they did it doesnt fit the car.

Back in 2006 when I was looking to buy my MS3 there was a "spy shot" on the web of an orange hatchback that had dual exhaust.

General rule of thumb...if you want to know if something is functional or not, just look at race cars. How many 4 cylinder dedicated race cars (drag racing or road racing) have you seen with dual exhausts? If duals were the best (performance wise) for a turbo car, don't you think you'd see a LOT more street driven drag cars with them? All the big power Supras (may not be a 4cyl, but it is still an inline motor)/Evos/Skylines I've seen have been single exit exhaust. For V motors I understand the point for dual exhausts, but never for an inline motor.

Anyway, by looks alone it doesn't look too bad. A little too big for my taste, but I like an understated exhaust setup, personally...one that looks stock but flows better. The stock MS3 cat-back isn't too restrictive, so I think I'm going to stick with it to save some money, but again...that's just my personal preference. If you like it, go for it! Just don't try to argue that it's the best setup for performance gains.

Nice job man. Can I ask where you had it done and how much it cost?

i payed about 150 dollars for the parts.
And all the work i did in my school together with a friend. So i learned allot and saved money at the same time. So i can buy somethine else for the car!

race cars generally don't run muffled at all, they are performance minded only. They do no typically consider long term durability, or streetability. For many of us, strait pipes are not an option... if you're building a track car, by all means, follow the model of the pros.. but street cars are always a comprimise.

I think its stupid to put dual exhaust on a I4. I estimate the new Speed3 will weigh an extra 60 - 100 lbs just by them adding various things to it.

I don't understand why you have a normal Mazda 3 spoiler on your car? the only reason I can see anyone putting a regular 3 spoiler is to stay off the radar, but running quad exhaust is going to give that away, especially with that intake sound too.

unless you really like the look of the regular 3's spoiler over the MS3's spoiler. but thats doubtful.

so what is your reason?
