Accidently added too much oil

Please excuse my idiocy. I just bought a used Mazda3 - when I checked the oil I thought it was low and I added about 2/3 of a quart before I realized that I wasn't reading the dipstick properly and it was already to the full line to start with. I guess the oil must have been changed recently because it was too clear to see. I tried to jack up the car and remove the drain plug to get some out, but it seems to have been torqued down by the Hand of God or something, and my wrench is too wimpy to remove it.

Is it unsafe to start the engine now with 2/3 of a quart over and drive it down the street to have the mechanic do it?

you should be fine to drive for a lil bit....i'm sure someone may say that you would be good to go w/o having any takin out

shouldn't be.

but work at it some more..

c'mon dude, beast(pissed) it off there

I used what little beast I had (fresh out of beer), it was not enough. Liquid wrench didn't work either. All I have is an 8 inch ratchet - I'm thinking about walking to the auto parts store to get a beefier ratchet or box end wrench.

yeah dude....if you work on the car once....go buy a 18" long 1/2" breaker bar....it will be your best friend

Do you have a weightlifting bar? Try sticking that onto the end of your ratchet and using it to give you leverage! My M3 is the same way, the Lord Almighty holds my drain pan nut in place as well! LOL! So no oil leaks! (knock on wood)

But yeah try the hollowed out tube idea...

if you have craftsman hand tools it wont matter, aside from the trek to sears to get a new one ! i myself have to do that, as i was in a disparate situation and had to use my driver for something general outside its limits.. worked, but broke the action. oh well, get a new one!

fixed.(usa)

i would drain the oil out..there is a reason why your only supposed to fill her up to a certain point...it might not make any difference but still
