ANOTHER 25mm spacer thread

This is in response to madvillian's thread the other day about the 25mm spacers with stock wheels. He got me into these so I went online and bought a set of them myself.

Everyone out there who is a name brand kind of person doesnt necessarily have to go that route. I paid $75 per set for a total of $150 for my set of 4 from ebay. These are non-name branded, but still looked great and were studded and are HUB CENTRIC. The ones on Ebay were listed as fitting Mazda 3, 6, rx7, rx8

these are the spec form the ad:
BOLT PATTERN: 5X114.3
THREAD TYPE: 12 X 1.5
CENTER BORE: 67
WIDTH: 25MM
QUANTITY: 2

I pait on Sunday and they were here Tuesday, so only 2 days for shipping and they came with tracking. The guy has over 50 sets for sale he said.

Anways, my reason for posting this thread is because in madvillians case he already rolled his fenders in a very extreme fashion for his 18X9 wheels he had so it would be hard for us to tell if they would fit for the rest of us who didnt have that done already, so this is what I'll be showing.

the gap is pretty close, 2 fingers up front and 2 finger in back. I am dropped on Dropzone springs (1.4 front/1.4 rear) which is slightly more than H&R springs (1.3 front/1.2 rear). So for those dropped around that I would say YES YOU MUST ROLL THE REAR FENDERS!!!

At first I didnt think i would need them rolled, I drove around fine but sure thing when I hit some bumps that suspension shifted up an inch or so and it rubber. FRONTS ARE FINE, but rears need to be rolled for those of you dropped an inch or more.

Now on to the pics :)

That looks GREAT man, very very nice. I can't wait to get my calipers done tomorrow and my wheels put on Saturday. :)

Absolutely and its to aid in making their wheel bearings go out sooner as well as alter the suspension geometry for the worse. Its Herra Dumb

I'd say that if "the look" is what you're going for, have at it....but if you want to be safe and you're not looking to put undue stress on your car's tires/suspension/hubs/wheel bearings, stay away from these. They're definitely not something I would ever go to the track with.

The added positive scrub radius is much more prominent when using these with stock wheels than when using a wider tire/wheel combo with a reasonable offset. I'm sure it makes torque steer substantially more prominent, as well as making the car harder to control during turning/cornering...

That being said, it looks cool. :);)

You can definately feel that wide stance with these things, turning a corner seems like there is no body roll (there obviously is but its much less noticeable). Car drives great on the freeway and around corners.

My only reason to post this thread was because in madvillian's thread he already had a crazy rear fender roll from his 18X9 rims, and most of us didnt have that or didnt want that so I am showing that only a minor fender roll is needed. Thread isnt really sto try to brag or bost about the mod, but just rather show some closeups for those curious about doing this.

25mm is flush as all hell! I would probably suggest 20mm for the rears if you could get them, as you might not need to roll the rears with 20mm, you definately need to roll it with 25mm, but with 15mm you certainly would not need a fender roll. Remember my car is also lowered 1.4 inch in front and 1.4 in rear. If you're not dropped, you might actually be fine without a roll.

damn uhateit. you are a pioneer in the off brand world. your the man, i followed suit for the drop zomes now im on board for these. im sending my eibach 15mm spacers back for a refrund unless someone wants them for 125 shipped.

im getting these, 15mms tho

so you suggest 25 for the front and 20 for rears? i see you said "if you can get them" does he not sell them?

yeah use that ebay link i posted above, they are $75 per set of 2, he only sells 25mm and 15mm versions. Buy 2 sets and get free shipping. They are hub centric so they ride smooth and fit perfectly.

Honestly if you just get 15mm spacers you will be fine and NOT need fender rolling. I think the 25 are a bit extreme, but will sit FLUSH. If you dont mind them in a tad then the 15mm's will be fine. Have you seen builthatch's 15mm thread? they are nice as well.

Even with 25mm in front and rear the front still appears a bit inside than the rears, you can probably get away with 25mm front anf 20mm rears if you can even find the 25mm rears. Overall for ease of fender rolling i would probably go with 15mm all around. Since I dont want to say 25mm front and 15mm rear and have them look awkward.

Thanks for making this post! Your car looks great! I think I am going to get the 15mm spacers when I order my new wheels so I don't have to roll the fenders.

yeah this fender rolling s*** is a b****. I didnt roll them and they scraped, so I rolled them but didnt roll them all the way so they pulled out, and then I bent them back and they still came out. I just got back inside on a break rolling again and hope they dont come back.

My problem is I dont have the right tools so I will probably have to drive another 30 minutes to my parents house tonight to have my step dad help me roll them the rest of the way.

15mm wont need the roll and will still look good.

car looks pretty darn good aside from the ucla bruins license plate frame. I need to give you an extra Trojans one I have lying around.

we wont get into that debate, since we know where the arguement will end up heading. Dont want any words to go flying that I might regret ;)

hahaha good stuff it's all good ucla is a great academic school, usc owns the football though. How do you like the spacers for a DD around town?

See lots of people try to argue that usc is a "better" school simply because their football team happens to win a lot of games. glad you brought up ucla for being a good academic school. for me college should be about the education not the sports team. it aould be like going to duke just because their basketball team wins a lot instead of for the gdeat education. i wont get into it further but i know what you mean. since i dont care about collegw football it doesnt matter to me but i did graduate from ucla in 2006

as for the dd ride, today was my first drive to work, it rode great but it caught the fenders a few times which blows so i need to roll the fenders more by the door section to stop the scrapping. otherwise all is well
