really curious of this AP thing ive been looking at it and telling myself no way not enough maps and all that good stuff but something keeps calling me back like a rat hole strip club with 1 hot stripper in it..
so my question is i have the cobb sri and turbo inlet, im really not planning on doin much more but motor mounts and may b the forge wastegate... would i benifit from the AP or am i better off with how i am
is it worth it
is it really that cool

Yeah an AP can benifit anyone from stock to full bolted on. I dont have mine yet but I cant wait. You still have plenty of easy bolts ons to do. You can do those while you think about the AP.

Test pipe = easy 15 min install
TMIC = easy 15 min install
bypass valve = 2 min install

All those would help too and are super easily installed / removed.

I just got mine today, the car pulls harder for sure. Much smoother and more powerful all the way up to 6K rpm. Works great as a boost gauge as well.

well I cut out the two resos and that's prolly all I'm gonna be doin as far as exhaust not looking to get the turbo seals smokein any time soon LOL and I did get the hks bov,
I saw a YouTube video bout a cp-e tune or somethin kno anything about that

from what i understand(read on here) cp-e is best if youre going big turbo build and ap is best if you are just doing small bolt ons.. do some searching and theres lots of threads about comparing the two

cp-e has a piggyback system that you have to tune yourself or pay someone to tune it. It costs a around 1000 for a new plug and play standback. The ap will be user tunable in 3-4 weeks.

only thing that affects turbo seals is the downpipe. Test pipe does nothing but removes the small cat in the middle of the car. If you dont like it . . . sell it. Its 100 bucks and 15 min to switch out. Just something for you to think about.

That is not exactly true. DP's are not affecting the turbo seals, they are just improving the flow so that the smoke from oil that is burnt do to bad seals gets out of the exhaust. In other words the seals are bad with stock dp's but you don't realize it until you free up the exhaust. It is possible that you will see smoke with a race pipe if your seals are bad.

Where did you hear the AP will be custom tunable in 3-4 weeks? Is that true? If it is.. thats awesome!!

haha I heard it on another forum from a guy who is testing the software. Christian has also told me that he is currently using the software and it will be released soon. They are already working on another more advanced software that should be released in the summer. Their is already an update for the ap that adds a virtual dyno feature.

One of my buddies just ordered his AP along with a HKS Hi-Power Exhaust and he also has the HKS racing suction intake system. Will he be able to use any maps? If so which map do you recommend to use?

holding breath(confused)

not to hijack the thread.. but as mentioned above how does the AP work with a nano, and corksport exhaust? i read a post that someone was have problems with the AP on their nano, and im wondering how different could a cobb and cpe SRI be from each other

So what's safer, having mods on without a Tune or with a Tune? Cause I'm seeing lots of threads on people blowing their motors with Cobb AP Tunes on Mazdaspeed forums. Since AP's Tune maps are self-explanatory as far as what mods are required for each map it seems like its not the case of people pushing beyond what the car should be able to handle... Yet I'm hearing here that having bunch of mods on while the ECU is on stock mode isn't good either.

dont doa ton of mods w/o a tune. you will damage your motor plus you wont be able to tell what your motor is doing. if your motor is pushing a knock of like 8 and you dont know it then you cant fix it. if you have the ap you can adjust things to make your car not blow up. a tune is always good for your car esp in these because the factory settings of the ecu suck.

So the Speed3 will not be capable of running the AP's maps with the HKS racing suction intake and HKS Hi-powered cat back exhaust?

sure it can, but your fuel trims may be off. Once access tuner race is released you will be able to calibrate the MAF sensor to the intake.
