Amazing little car. Top of its class by light years. All the negative comments reminds me of the jealous Protege owners when the 1st gen 3 came out.

I still like the looks of my P5 over every 3 but the mazdaspeed. I like the restyled 3 but that front end treatment is a tad too gaping smile. I'm sure the mazdaspeed version will look even better.

I saw a fleet of them the other night, still in camo (odd...) on I-96 heading to my g/f's place, and it was dark out. I'm going to the NAIAS, either tomorrow or next Friday, so I'll get to see this monstrosity in person.

Styling is always a personal choice. I like the P5, I used to have one. But when I see a P5 now, I just see a 10 year old car. It's human nature to resist change, but the bottom line is that this car is a trendy new design and will sell like hot cakes whether the haters like it or not.

I got the chance to see this car in person last night, and I honestly don't like the exterior at all. That grille just kills me. Interior is really nice on the other hand. I like the upper trim line with the multi-function display, that will be really nice to have.

No saying it won't sell like hotcakes. And I have no resistance to change. I'd buy and MS3 right now if it made financial sense.

I'm saying that all things being equal, I like they styling of my 7yr old car better than this new one

Same way I like the styling of the old BMW M5 over the new one or the old Nissan Altima over the new one.

And I don't own any of those cars. I'm not saying my opinion is the law but I think it's silly when people suggest just because something is newer, it is also automatically better looking or more pleasing to every eye.

Good styling is good styling. Wide gaping front ends are wide gaping front ends. I'm not a hater, I'm just a person with an opinion.

I haven't been following this thread but figured I could atleast contribute.

I went to NAIAS on Thursday night and took some pictures of the new 2010 Mazda 3.

Electronic trunk release just underneath the Mazda emblem and the wiper swings the opposite direction on the rear hatch:

The Bose sub got moved to the trunk, VERY similar to the Acura RSX-S setup:

There's a button in the middle of the trunk for the electronic trunk release, then this button is embedded in the taillight to lock the trunk:

Newer style of trim on the doors and handles:

Pleuthera of buttons all over the place (ie. Steering wheel):

Good stuff

The hatchback is growing on me by the day, cool things nonetheless

Just get the sedan's color on the hatch and we are on business (naughty)

Just for the record I wasn't including you in the haters group. There are alot of threads across the Internet right now full of them. I seem to remember similar stuff when the 1st gen 3 came out. Your opinions are usually well thought out and you are entitiled to them.

I would prefer that the grill was toned down a bit, but the rest of the car is fantastic. The interior and features are amazing for a car in the compact/economy class.
