Does anyone have a battery they are getting rid of for a protege 5, or a battery that will fit in my car? Thanks, Chris

Whatever man, the duralast gold is on par with all other high end normal (non-Optima or whatever) batteries, and they have never given me s*** about any kind of warranty issue, just bring the broken one in, get a new one, walk away.

Same thing with everstart from walmart - 35 series, 70 bucks, 3 yr replacement, 8 yr prorated

Google "DEKA" batteries.

They supply companies like Braille and other brands.
There are a number of online sources.
You can get the same quality without paying a premium for the brand name. (ty VW dudes)

Thanks a lot, it's not that I am being cheap, I don't have 90 bucks to spend on a battery, and all the places I have called were over 80 plus tax.

Well, batteries cannot be shipped (easily). and even if they could, the cost due to weight is very high, and would be more than the $50 fee for a Wal mart cheoporama.

If you have one, go to Advanced Auto and see if they have a used one. When I traded in my last car, I sold my Optima to a local guy, and then used a $15 used one. It worked fine.

There are batteries that will work for your car. There is no specific 2002 Mazda Protege 5 Battery. It is a multi-fit battery. GO check it out, let us know how it works out.

First of all.. it's pointless to buy used batteries, brakes, spark plugs, etc. Just buy them new.. end of story.

Second of all, like flyinm2008 mentioned.. it's gonna be a royal pain in the ass to ship one. The money you'd save cost wise on the batter itself, you'd end up paying for shipping.. not to mention that you're even allowed to ship batteries cuz they're very hazardous.

So with that being said, I support the going to Wal-Mart and just getting a cheap-o battery that will get you by for a while. However, if you're gonna dish out some cash for a battery.. it's VERY well worth it to go with an Optima. I've had my yellow top of 8 years now.. it's been in my P5 since the day it was born and before that it was in my old DSM. Still cranks like a champ to this day..

+1 on the optima. I just bought a red-top a few days ago, and im very impressed already!(yes)

cool, my one friend had a battery sitting in his garage that he had bought for his son's Jetta. They put it in the car it started for a couple days then went dead, so he thought the battery was junk. He went out and bought a Diehard and it did the same thing. Needless to say the car had a bad alternator. And he had a extra battery, so I was able to get the battery :)
