What is this crap??? Charging me $33 for oil alone. Its non syn 5w30. The service guy claims its some kind of special "mazda oil".

I was pissed, but didn't want to make a scene. My wifes car is a mazda3 with the same 2.3 engine. I am gonna get her receipt and call the manager on monday, because he last oil change was under $30 bucks.

I told the guy, I dont care if it has a turbo, oil is oil...

*venting* what do you guys think?

call the service manager and tell him he needs to get new employees cause mazda doesn't use no special edition oil. That's why i do my own oil changes. Saves me money and the frustration.

yeah...dealerships like to **** on crap like that...i got charged 70 once for full syn....and then i caught them putting reg oil in....told the man that...and he almost brushed it off.....and then gave me a free oil change down the road with full syn....and yes i watched.....

same place quoted me 850 for new tires....when i could have ordered them off tire rack and had them mounted elsewhere for 400

$45 isn't really all that bad

$6+ for Mobil1 x4
$3 oil change box
$12 K&N Oil Filter

Plus I do my own laber
i mean obviously you gave them the ok to do the oil change when you signed the paper... if the price was really that bad you should have took your business somewhere else or do it yourself like most of us do

the issues here though is that it wasnt synthetic that was used and who cares if he signed the paper saying go ahead and change my oil? no where does it what it cost. they dont tell you that until the end. i suppose he should have asked how much it is going to be, but when he has a history of getting them done there for less money, i would be pissed too

$45 isn't a ripoff, it's pretty standard.

Non-syn standard oil - $4 x 4 = $16
Oil Filter - $8

So basically they charged you $21 for the labor, removal fee, and tax. I fail to see where the scam here is.

If anything, you're scamming them from what you pay for you wife's oil change!

PS - I haven't changed oil in a CX-7 before, but it may be more difficult to change the oil in despite it having the same motor as your wife's 3. There could be splash guards to remove, etc etc that would take extra time.

I only pay 25 -30 bucks but then again i dont go to the dealer

$45 for an oilchange im not sure where you live, but that pretty standard i am sure, my SRT8's are $90 for mobil 1, so im guessing $45 is pretty average price... You cant expect them to do at at a lower price, they as a business have to make money and to have a bay tied up for 20-30 minutes pay a man to do the oil change and all things factored in NOT A BAD DEAL AT ALL...

There is a engine guard at the bottom to remove if im not mistaken it has about 8-10 screws...

whats an oil change box?

hehe... seriously?

Sign what paper? I have never signed anything before they do an oil change. It is clearly marked on their board for a "Standard oil change", which is what I requested. No where did the service guy tell me that CX-7 oil is special. For standard dino 5w30 there is no way in hell it costs $33 for 5-6 qts of oil. He even stated "There is no way for me to know evey type of oil for a specific make or model". I mean isnt that his job? I work in the banking industry and if I didn't know a certain type of Bank note or annuity, I am pretty sure I would be out of work...

Since when is $45 for a standard oil change a good price? My 350z at nissan only cost $25 every oil change. 5w30 standard oil....

not sure where you guys are going but just about everyshop and dealership here requires you to sign a waiver giving them to the ok to work on your vehicle.. and if you don't ask how much it's going to cost then that's your problem

this thread is just blah

Dude...Quit your whining..It could be worse.

My SS takes synthetic and the DEaler wont put anything in but Synthetic if I want it done there.

I don't get a choice unless I want to do it myself.
$70 for an oil change.

$45 isnt hateful.

Wow... Never in my life has any dealership had me sign a "waiver" to do an oil change. But you know, there is no reason to argue with you, since you obviously think a basic oil change should cost more than $30 bucks.

As for me asking how much it costs to change my oil, you are right, I should have ask, but when it is clearly posted above their station and I did not request "special mazda oil", then there should be no reason for me to reveive it.

You guys that think $45 is ok to pay for an oil change, I hope one day you realize that oil is oil and there is no reason to pay so much.

by the way... the oil alone was $33 and the labor was $8 and then taxes.

/end thread

I hope you really dont believe this...youre an idiot if you think this is true

Wow... I mean really? I guess teenagers have less to worry about, so paying a fortune for oil is acceptable.

Can't say I was different... If you aren't a teenager, then please don't call people idiots for stating a fact.

EDIT:

For the record, I did discover that Mazda/Ford service depo's use a synthetic blended oil which would make it a "special cx-7 oil".

Sorry for the confusion.
