turbo inlet?????????

I think any flow improvement would be limited until you were running a downpipe or TBE....

i am installing mine sunday on my day off. I will let you know if its a sound or performance mod. I dont spend cash for dyno's so I wont have one of those but I'll at least mention if it's simply a sound mod and or if it even makes a difference in feel.

rpmc is apparently 5hp and 10tq, but even with something that minor you wouldnt really notice it tho evety little bit helps

if that were the case, intakes and intercoolers would not have much the effect that they do. we've noticed gains from the RPMC as was stated in the prior post, plus the turbo spools quicker than before. having a inlet that flows better than stock releases that bottleneck, and is something noticable not only on the stocker, but on larger GT turbos like the ATP. we gained 25 whp on a speed6 with the 3071R going to a larger inlet.

you went for it huh?
you have been debating getting this for evarrgg.

Well I didnt want to spend $200+ on the rpmc version and I had been pm-ing corksport about the turbo inlet that comes with their short ram intake system ($230 shipped for their short ram AND the turbo inlet) and asked if they would sell it seperately, they mentioned probably towards the beginning of the year for around $80... which sounded great!

But there was a FS thread earlier this week that this guy made a custom one out of aluminum and he had it welded together and had the tubing needed, connectors and silicone couplers as well. I snagged that for $75 shipped, and I assume it will work just as well as the cobb, corksport, or rpmc. So yep I decided to go for it, just not the one for $200+

When I install it tomorrow I'll post some pics of it and update if there is any noticeable gains or sound difference.

waiting for cp-e's to come out..yum

i think testing has just began and will be in production soon. but us ms3 owners sit on the word "soon" quite often. this would be a very good replacement over the stock piece anyday.

any one have any pics of what cobbs will look like since ill be buying there sri i would like there inlet pipe too

there are like 10 threads on the whole turbo inlet thing. This is in the cobb thread someone created.

and this is the short ram intake combined with the cobb inlet so you can see what it would look like on your car if combined:

and here is the corksport intake plus inlet, $239 for the short ram intake AND the turbo inlet as well. The only intake system that includes the inlet pipe along with it. Probably your best bang for the buck as you get both items you want. Lestat13 has this now. Corksport says they will sell the inlet by itself in a few months:

Just installed this. I had a little beef about the fitment of the kit and pieces that came to me bent. Also had to drill out the hole on the mounting tab to fit. The diameter does seems quite small (especially when taking off my cobb sri). Couldn't tell you if there was a performance gain cause I switched back to the factory intercooler at the same time (I was majorly overboosting if you didn't hear).

The maf fit perfectly (unlike the poor fitment for the bolts on my cobb sri) and the t-clamps were a really nice touch. I don't notice an increase in sound inside the car, but apparently there is a slight increase in suction sound outside the car. Turbo spools a bit faster, but its already a fast spooling turbo.

Again, I am not really sure if there is a performance increase... but looking at the factory inlet, IT HAD TO GO!!!!

Uhateit, did you by chance get to install the inlet pipe? What is your take on it? Pics if you have any.

oh yeah sorry about that i forgot to post it in here, i posted in the "what have you done to your 3 today" thread, I copy pasted what my post was in there with pics and review:

installed a custom turbo inlet:

Getting everything out was a b**** and a half, but putting it back together was easy. I broke a vac line clip and had to do some rigging to fix it and make it work right.
*while I was at it, replaced the stock recirc tubing with blue tubing to match everything else that is now blue.

I will say that there is a minor gain in torque/hp that you can only feel if you floor it or get on it, but there definately is a gain, as to how much I am not sure but you will feel it :). But YES if anyone wants to know the turbo pools faster and YES it makes it louder. There is a jet-like sound of sucking in that makes the cai sound twice as loud. It drowns out my greddy type-s bov a bit but that thing is still loud as heck. A great mod if you want to do this, pair it up with an intake for sure! It gives minor gains that you can feel and definately is a sound mod as well!

For those of you who have switchy an sri or cai and liked the loudness and turbo sounds you got... if you do this it will become twice as loud! It's glorious!

cp-e 3 inch ftmfw!

honestly I would not see a need for that to be so large in diameter. My Mazdaspeed cold air intake is 2.5 inchec, and the coupler from that matched up pperfectly with this custom piece, and the side of the turbo where you clamp the inlet on is inly a 2 insh diameter hole on the side of the turbo. So my coupler goes from 2.5 down to 2.0 to mate with the turbo. Having a 3-inch wouldnt make a difference I wouldnt think as it STILL has to taper down to 2.0 inch to mate with the turbo. Also if it's 3-inches in diameter, it would probably not mate up with most aftermarket intakes like the cobb of ms as they are all pretty much 2.5 inches in diamater anyways.

they've taken this concept

the ends will fit any application while the camber smooth the increase air flow.
