Apparently, I was the victim of a hit and run last night while my car was parked at my apartment complex. Mind you, I park in the end spot so that no one door dents me - the spot closest to the handicap spot. Anyway, both doors on the driver's side are completely smashed in and closed shut. My car looks absolutely awful and I am furious. I think someone came home drunk last night and tried pulling in and hit my car twice or something. It looks like a rhino charged my car, twice. I had to file a police report and now I need to get an estimate for the damage and have it fixed.

Not a good day back to work after a long weekend off. (pissed)

Unable to take pics, but I will as soon as I can.

any way to tell what color the car was? search for cars w/ damage that would match?

doe's your apt have assigned parking? check with your neighbors that would use the spaces that someone was trying to pull into.

I would definitely start taking evening strolls around your complex looking for a car with a bashed-in nose. They've gotta come home eventually.

Sorry about your car. People suck.

Not really any paint that I could tell. There are white scuffs but I supposed that is from the paint being scratched. There is some tiny specks of brownish tan substance on the edge of the door. It kind of smears so I am not sure if that is paint or mud. My car was perfectly clean and polished up on Monday, though.

no assigned parking and no car in sight with damage this morning. I was running late. I would put whoever did this in a world of hurt if I found them.

My deductible is waived when I am not at fault, so I am not worried about cost. However, being the third claim this year on my 3, I am sure my rates will go up (rear-ended first day I got the car plus a glass claim). Plus, I am paranoid that it will not be the same after the repair - creaks, paint match, etc. They will definitely need to order two new complete doors - outside shells and inside trim.

look on the driver side of a two toned white and black car. do it late at night. sorry to hear about you damage, I worry about the same thing everynight in my complex.

I appreciate everyone's concern. This just really pisses me off to no end.

Two new, complete doors are on order. They said they are going to repaint the whole side of the car or re-clearcoat the rest of the driver side so that you will not be able to see any color or finish difference. Does that sound right?

Also, the damage was so severe that the steel side beams were even bent!!(omg)

Any ideas why the factory alarm system that comes on the GT models would not have sounded?? Is it because the door was not actually opened?

I've got an 07 galaxy gray and had a new door put on after a t-bone accident and they repainted the whole right side of my car, you can't tell. I'm sure your car will look brand new again. Did the airbags go off? I know the car wasn't on but if a car gets hit hard enough sometimes the car's airbags will go off, it happened in my sisters bimmer that got t-boned in a parking lot. The suv that hit her car was going 60 and of course her car was parked all the airbags went off as well as the alarm. (The driver was drunk, and it was in a mall parking lot the video was pretty awesome!)

Just under $2800 is the initial estimate. That does not include interior door panels which I think have broken clips. They will order those if needed and request a supplemental check from the ins. company.

No the airbags did not go off. I was told at the dealer that the key needs to be in the ignition but maybe if it was hit harder. I really can't imagine much harder of a hit but the glass did not break. Really cannot understand why my alarm did not go off. I mean, if the damn thing can get t-boned without an alarm sounding, the alarm system is absolutely useless.

Anyway, parts should be here in a week and hopefully it takes a week or less after that. Good to know that they can paint everything to look new. The car was only a year old and had several coats of NXT 2.0, so I presume there shouldn't be any fading. I will just have to wait until spring to wax the new panels, though, since the paint will need to cure and the temps here in MI are very cold.

Damn. Well, my glass is not broken and the side pillars were not dented or buckled. Looking at the pics, mine wasn't nearly as bad as yours. I am going to take and post pics tomorrow.

Mine wasn't all that bad either, my face looked a whole lot worse! : D
But really my car looks brand new so as long as you trust the body shop you'll be good. The Volvo-ness of my car is why my car wasn't totaled, it's a VERY well built car.
They said if I was driving something like a Toyota Corolla they said the damage would have been a lot worse! But I thought the Toyota was built pretty well too... I was just really lucky to be driving my 3.

Woke up this morning and found a note on the windshield. Guy lives in the apartment below me. He left his name, number and insurance policy information. He said he was sorry for hitting my car "this morning." I am pretty sure that he must have come home drunk late Nov. 11th or early morning on Nov 12th but there's no way he left the note until this morning Nov. 13th.

Sounds like he realized that there was no way he could get away with it without you noticing. Sorry about your bad luck. I would be beyond pissed if that happened to me. (Thank goodness I no longer live in an apartment complex!)

$2800.00 sounds way too low for that kind of repair. My car got "bumped" in a parking lot by a delivery van. Needed a new rear bumper and rear quarter repair. That alone was near the amount you posted.

I would agree $2800 does sound low. I got bumped while pumping gas. (by this hot 17 / 18 year old girl) Anyway, it was $800 just to repair a little scratch in the bumper!

Yeah, I filed a claim through his insurance company today. I would imagine that the $2,800 initial estimate is going to go up. They did not figure for any interior panels - just two new door skins, paint, seals, side molding and the chrome 2.3 badge. I am pretty sure the interior panel clips are broken, plus there seems to be a slight difference in the gap between the edge of the hood and the body on the driver's side where it was hit.

Plus, I am not sure how they will handle salvaging my tinted windows. I don't see how the rear triangular piece can be saved if it is part of the door frame.

I am extremely meticulous about my car, so if it's not right, it will be made right.

They matched my tint, they had my windows tinted at a place 100 miles from the shop because it was the only place that had the tint I bought. My car isn't a 100% there are still scratchs on the driver door where the glass got caught in my leg and I scratched the door panel, the review mirrow has chucks, yes chucks, missing in it the dash has little pieces of glass still in it, there is a couple places where I can see a gap dif but my insurance said it was good to go and told me those things were most likely there before, I'm pissed about that but I'm happy to have my car back I missed her and she saved my life so I can't be to mad. I'm most likely going to end up selling this 3 for an 09(Or 10 if I like them) GT anways.
