Unlock trip computer on non GT MS3

No, I didnt think it was able to. I have a new head unit coming though, my CD player wont eject. Sadly it wouldnt the day I got it 11 months ago but never bothered to take it in, I never play CD's but was by the dealership the other day so I though why not. I should try though now and see what happens.

Absolutely, let us know. I figure you'll either be able to enable the trip computer, or play mp3 discs, one of the two, lol.

I just tried it on my 08.5 sport that had the radio replaced for the volume issue and after starting the car while the buttons were held down nothing came up. I'll try it again in a few but I dont think its going to work.

Check the version of the software on the replacement radios.

I have a feeling the guys that have the trip comp. after the replacement is because the service department ordered the single CD + trip by accident.

+1 i have the 08.5 or 09 whatever people wanna call it now. but yeah it didnt work. and isnt it suppose to have the cd changer too?

Unless of course you get an older model headunit on ebay.

Which works great by the way.

I have seen the older model units on ebay for like $30-40 shipped, so if someone can find one and install it, go for it and it should work. I have the 08 sport and it doesn't work, but that was mentioned many many pages ago :(

And of the four settings... only one is valuable. The average speed. The other four (especially average MPG) have been proven to be very inaccurate....

I have an early '08 S Sport w/6 disc changer. I could not get this to work.
I purchased an '07 single disc head unit off Ebay. I changed just the '07 faceplate (with the "set" button instead of the ":00") to my existing 6 disc changer....and it worked.

I don't think the dis unit is in the actual radio.

i can also confirm that this doesn't work on the "09" as well...

tried it twice, didn't work.. i didn't bother with the disconnect the battery, as i never even got the DIS on message...

i love the trip computer...mine didnt have it but thanks for showing how to unlock it.
is there any other little unlocks for the 3?

You can unlock the "sport" tune on the ecu...gives you an additional 10 horsepower.
1. Turn the key to the ignition position
2. Make sure the car is in neutral
3. Press the horn button for one second, three times
4. Flash your high beams for one second, three times
5. Remove the key from the ignition
6. Push the horn button for five seconds
7. Wait three minutes, then start the car, take it for a test drive

up up down down left right left right A B select start...old school "Contra" code unlocks a 100 shot of nos in the sport MS3 only
