So... question about MS CAI

Some of us like not having warranty problems.

most dealers should be cool with you getting a different brand CAI. especially since their design is ten times better than what AEM made for Mazda.

$400 bucks. thats a 1/4 of a payment towards the total care extended warranty.

not to throw salt in anyones wounds who bought a MSCAI for 400 bucks but hahaha.

i just bought my MSCAI off of a guy yesterday for $125. bought the Air flow straightener for $20. brought me to a grand total of 145.

dont buy the MSCAI man for that price.

talk to the service manager at your dealership. let him know the mods you want to do with your car. give him the literature on the mods so he/she can see that you arent putting anything on the car to Hurt it.

I just got my MS3 two weeks ago. I spoke with the Service manager lettting him know i wanted to get a FMIC, intake, and the other prelim. mods and he was totally cool with it.

he said, the mods i was getting were going to help the car run more efficiently not hurt the car. so he said mod on.

but i told him before i went with any mod. i would get the information to him and the head tech so they can read on it first.

he appreciated that. the money part for me is that the head tech is a supra nut. he has two supras, one n/a that had 475hp which he had to detuned a bit b/c the power was destroying his transmissions and rear ends.

his twin turbo supra is over 1000hp. so lucked up. he and i sat there talking about cars for about a hour and a half. he stopped working haha. he and all the guys like him in the supra world are all about the Supra MK3's and destorying the guys with their MK4's

so build a relationship with your service manager and head tech. all the techs if you can

Another layer is the Mazda rep. You can have a very cool dealer, but if the Mazda rep gets involved in a warranty issue, they can veto the dealer since Mazda is paying the bills.

Unless you are completely willing to pay if you play, proceed with caution. Even where you don't think your mod could cause any problems. Sure, you've got legal rights and remedies, but it will take a fair amount of effort to enforce them.

i was saying talk to all the techs after you get the ok with the Service manager. so all the techs are on the same page knowing that you got the ok for mods from the service manager

the Service manager is the Big dog when it comes to your car after your car has been purchased. not the finance managers, sales guys or anyone else

The service manager is the alpha and omega once you own the car. thats the person who determines what your warranty is and is not. So build a relationship with your service manager

of course you dont show up to your dealer with AP's, boost controllers, upgraded turbos and stuff like that and expect your warrnty not to be voided

EXACTLY! thats crack prices, and they dont even give the FULL intake for that price. If you want to have the ful l intake system you still have to spend $200+ for the turbo inplet portion to have a full intake. Seems like for $400 they should at least give you the entire intake section(boom04)

Too obvious to mention. But I'd rather talk to the techs or service writers to get an idea ahead of time b/f alerting the "big dog". In case he's a pit bull or something. Also, can't hurt to reiterate the real big dog is the Mazda regional rep, since he's in charge of spending Mazda's money . . . or not.

Can you point me in the direction of where you ordered this from...? I ordered my MS CAI before they were even initially released back in '07... Any way got a badass price on it though.. $309, my buddy new the parts manager. But really if you could let me know where you got this from.. Thanks Yamaha72

Glad you can speak for most dealers. Please show the test that proves the design is 10 times better and you aren't simply speaking out your ass.

Not including installation cost ROLMFAO!!!!! It's really like $500 + if you want it covered under Mazda's green warranty plan. This doesn't cover hydrolock.

Someone should clear up this Hydrolock issue with everyone on this forum... Hydrolock would NEVER be covered under warranty, that would be like warranting brake pads or bent rims, not going to happen, human control. Hydrolock is an insurance claim. If you have full coverage insurance they will pay for a new motor minus your deductible. Nothing but a hassle really and maybe 1 or 2% increase in rates for the claim.

Once you tow your car in with anything serious those friendly faces at the dealer will change fast. Friend on mine with an STI though he had the best relationship with his dealer. Even hung out with some of the guys on weekends. Blew his tranny . . . warranty coverage denied.

Not if the damage was caused due to modifications. You get the INS rates you do based on a stock Mazdaspeed3, not a Mazdaspeed3 with modifications (CAI,etc.) Think about it.. I suppose you could always commit INS fruad though
