MAF Relocation

me and jon got about a quart of water out of one cold pipe hahahaha i think i still have the picture of it on my phone lol

I have the SU coldpipe, and if u have the Protege Garage SMIC, u have to cut like 3/4"-1" off the pipe, sounds scary but it works out fine. The reason for this is that it is designed for the stock or SMIC they sell, supposedly the CustomMSP SMIC at PG is just a tad different.

hey dude, can you give me a bit more information on exactly what you did to make it fit. you can toss me a pm, or just write it up here. Im thinking that you just hacksawd off the piece of alum?

Post those pics!!
BTW I really like the Grey MSP with the 03 lip. I think I just like the 03 better in general!!

LOL, it wasn't THAT much water. Maybe a pint max. but it was still alarming. I remember we couldn't figure out how there was still water in there so Ryan started to shake the pipe and that's when we heard the sloshing. I still don't know if I just had a coupler loose or what but it didn't happen after that with the MAM kit and hopefully it never happens with the turbolife kit.

hey, for some reason, last night, i go start the car..starts fine, idles okay...so off i go...everytime i let off the gas the car almost dies...then comes back up to a norm idle. in the past it would only do this on the rarest of occassions...my maf is before the turbo. i've considered relocating the maf before, but my issues were few and far between. wonder why it's much more constant now...colder temps? thoughts?

^^^ Chances are there's some other problem. Relocating the MAF doesn't fix any problems per se - it just allows you to run a straight VTA BOV but some members will swear it improves the driveability. I've actually never really had the P5 running the MAF in the stock position so I can't really add my opinion on the latter.

sounds like a typical vacuum problem? check your lines. Do you buck when you hit boost?

this happened to me before, when i would shift the car would almost stall. I pulled over and noticed that i forgot to tighten the hotpipe to the IC. Tightened it all up and it was all good.

Completely possible. I've had stranger things happen with these cars. My best example is clearing a P0171 CEL by simply removing and reinstalling the sparkplugs (part of a longer story). The ECUs inn these cars are just too damed picky!
