Installation Cost

Those angel eyes could be a b****, you gotta take the headlight housing apart???

No idea how to install it. I'm not too tech savvy. I'm just gonna have someone else do it for me...but I'm shopping around for a person who'll install for cheapest price xD!

( o . o ) <-------me = part-time worker + part-time college student, which means low on cash.

I got my angel-eyes installed and they look awesome! Every one of my friends say they put BMW lights to shame.

Yeah dont pay for any of those installastions. Catback exhaust is easy. BOV install will take you 5 minutes. Turbo timer . . . tricky to install and a bit ricey imo but shouldn't take you too long. Ive installed all my mods myself and this is the 1st car ive ever even looked under the hood in. Feels good when you can talk about the mods you have knowing you completely understand where they / how they work. You can even help others !

If you don't have a way to lift the car fairly high and support it real securely while you saw the factory pipe in half pay someone to put on the exhaust. I ordered a Magnaflow thinking I'd put it on myself since I put one on my last car and it wasn't all that hard. Last car was a Jeep Wrangler that you could almost sit up under. After thinking about laying under the car trying to saw the factory exhaust in half with a hacksaw, I paid the local Midas to do it. Took about 45 minutes, they charged me about $65, and it was well worth it.

If you didn't already know, you can probably sell your old exhaust even with it sawed in half for a good price. I didn't know that when I had mine replaced and asked them to throw it out for me so I wouldn't have to cut it up and put it in the garbage. Later I saw them selling on ebay for about $200.

No offense but you are being taken advantage of, sounds like you went to the shop not knowing to much about the car and he could probably sense that thus charging you a rediculous price for some really, really easy to install parts.

A better idea is to post up locally and see if some fellow Mazdaspeeders will help you with your install. I assure you they probably know more about the car than the shop you want to.

Anyhow, its your buck man.

Lucky for me, I have a friend who knows a guy really car savvy. I've gotten to know him pretty well and he's installing everything I need for a low price. I don't wanna be cheap since he's my friend so I buy him food, snacks, and other small stuff while he's working. He really enjoys tinkering around and loves cars to an obsession. So far, he's only installed the Umnitza Chromium Angel-Eyes Headlights for me but there's more to come.

Current mods:
1. Umnitza Chromium Angel-Eyes Headlights
2. Rockford Fosgate Power-Series Mono-Block Amplifier
3. forgot the brand...4-channel amplifier (replaced my factory Bose amp)
4. removed the factory Bose amplifier and sub-woofer
5. 2 12" Rockford Fosgate Power-Series woofers at 1,200 watts peak each
6. Metra Dash-kit for a 2-din
7. generic 2-din DVD/Nav system that's been bypassed so I can watch movies/music videos while I drive :)

Soon to come within a month or two from now:
1. HKS Turbo-Timer Type-0
2. HKS Hi-Power cat-back exhaust system
3. Rally Armor Mudflaps (black with red logo)
4. HKS SSQV BOV (actually ordered one before the distributor ran out of stock but the guy who took my order made a mistake and got one for a Talon/Eclipse T_T)
5. Cobb Tuning SF Intake

I already have the turbo-timer in my hands, ordered the cat-back, mudflaps, and intake a couple days ago online, and need to wait until the 27th or 28th for the BOV to arrive from Japan for the distributor. I'll try to post up some pics of my dash, woofers, and head-lights as soon as I can borrow a friend's camera. Looking at my list, I really didn't know I've done so much already since I've only had the car for a month (it'll be exactly 4 weeks on the 21st of Octorber) and I can't believe how much will be done in the next month or two. After this, though, I'm going to have to calm down a bit and start storing up cash.

Just a few questions:
1. Anyone know how much time and money it is to powder-coat the stock rims and make it black?
2. If possible, how much time and money to make a red lip around the rim?
3. How much is it to pay a shop/someone to paint my emblems?
4. Is anyone willing to do any of the above 3 cheaper than what the average tuning shop will charge me?

as far as powder coating your wheels....it's roughly $75 a wheel. and that's just one color...i'm sure if you ask them for a red lip, it will be a little more since they would have to tape it up and paint the lip....and time wise, you're prolly looking at about a week.

and if you're talking about painting your mazda emblems (front and back) there are plenty of How-To's and just general posts of people doing them themselves....it's a rather cheap mod......

That's quite expensive. I mean, I thought it'd be SOMETHING like that, but to do all 4 tires would be $300+ for the red-lip, as well. And a whole week??? What am I supposed to drive during that time T_T??? I do have my old 2002 Hyundai Sonata V6 GLS since my mom refuses to sell it, but...I don't wanna drive that xD! What do other people do while they have their wheels powder coated?

the stock wheels dont have a lip to paint?

it would honestly look retarded if you painted a little red pinstripe on your stock wheels.

save the money on powdercoating your wheels to getting something else, or for paying off your car/parts/etc.

Just a question:
If a "friend" of mine had a speed3 and just happened to curb his stock rims, would powder-coating do anything to cover up the damage or would the dents still remain? T_T "friend"...just take a guess as to who it is and don't bash me.

whenever i had my wheels powdercoated they sandblasted the wheels and they were able to fix all the curb rash and it was pretty major from wat i can remember.

Ninkunpoop... you live about 2 hours north of me... if you're willing to drive, i can install your parts for basically free.... im in San Diego.

I'd be willing to install the CBE/CAI/BPV

I have yet to install a turbo timer, and have looked into getting one, so I may be doing that next although I don't need it, I'm just a gizmo geek...lol

I installed my own CAI, CBE, MM, Short Throw Shifter. Pretty easy, just need to set up a time. So if you haven't already done this, hit me up on PM or something, and I'll see if we can get something worked out... heck just for the love of cars, I'll install it for pizza and a case of beer. =)

let me know dude!

Oh yeah, just to put out there Ninkumpoop, I'll show you the ropes on installing these parts.. .you'll be surprised just how easy it is.. lol =p

So let me know, reply to your PM has been sent.
