breake replacement (im noob)

hey guys so here it is. i put on my intake and my motor mount and a short shifter all by my lonesome self. yet i have no idea what to change on brakes. is it just tha pads or what? there squekin and im loving learning to do things on my own so i wana change them myself and im sure its cheaper. what do i change the break pads or what? and how im sure u just unbolt them and bolt the new ones on correct?

replace the pads, have a shop turn your rotors.

LOL... No, I have lost blood trying to swap out my pads for redstuff pads. THere is now a how to though that shows/tells you how to pop the spring off to get the pads to release. You can go big and do rotors/pads or just pads. The brakes are pretty dam good stock, but if you must...

no, just take them off...most places charge ~$10/rotor to have them turned...it just helps to make sure the rotor surface is nice and flat...so it's a good idea to have it done when you replace your pads...otherwise, you could get vibrations whenever you hit the brakes.

You should only worry about turning your rotors if they vibrate horribly right now. Just adding new pads isn't going to give you vibrations. If your brakes are just squeaking, replace the pads and be sure to bed them in properly and you should be good to go.

Tools needed

Just in case, it helps to know what tools you need ahead of time. The caliper bolts require a #55 "star drive" bit. I think the bleeder fitting is about10mm - can't remember exactly.

I had to use a breaker bar to release the caliper bolts. You'll need to turn the steering wheel hard over one way or the other so you have room for the bar inside that tight wheel well.
