Basically. I'll explain the details later when I get time to put up pics. Brother has camera right now and am gonna get it from him tomorrow.
I personally believe that it does help with shifting. It could be one of those things that it's in a person's head but I'm sure someone will have a more technical answer as to the benefits of having a weighted shift knob lol.
It wouldn't be night and day but it would help. It's all about the amount of torque you can apply to the shifter. Think about it this way: torque is equal to force multiplied by some moment arm. Therefore, you can increase torque in one of two way: increase the force applied or increase the moment arm. The latter is why people use large breaker bars when trying to remove stubborn nuts and bolts. With a heavier shift knob you are increasing the force applied because with the same amount of input from you, more mass equals more force.about a week or so. i will loosen the bolt and see. i did intsall the bushings at the same time too. i didnt drive it yesterday but i did today and feels a bit looser, could be in my head though. thanks man. also would a weighted knob do much?
Apparently my tourque converter as well as the main drum on the tranny are both shot and there are metal shavings everywhere. So I'm getting charged for both of those, new filter, new seals, new clutch packs.... basically everything new except for the gears themselves, the housing, and the valve body they also said they needed to do something to. Basically it all came down to the fact that a new tranny from Mazda and him re-building mine came out to the same price but if he re-builds it he can give me a lifetime warranty with free service every 12k miles and also install a tranny cooler. So the damage, with 12 hours of labor, is just shy of $3k and I have no choice but to bend over and take it since they already have the work half done.
thanks mr transmission guy... now help jeg fix his problem(freak)

Just gut the hatch area and leave the privacy cover in place. No cutting or drilling and you've saved a little weight in the process. I doubt whatever you'd be carrying back there cares if the plastic trim is there or not and with the privacy cover everything will be hidden from view inside the car.
Really? I didn't think the plastic would insulate that much from noise! When I was test driving the car after a spring install with the hatch gutted, the noise was incredible! Not sure if I could live with that.

Well hopefully I'll find out in a few weeks. I plan on leaving the privacy cover and the mat back there but everything else will go. It's more of a matter that I don't want to have to trim to trim everything to make my GTSpec cage fit than a weight reduction really. No joke, I couldn't believe the road noise compared to when it was back together.
Unfortunately I don't have the P5 currently. That, and I'm going to be out of town this weekend, LOL. Why don't you guys ever head down this direction?!BTW... are any OH guys here going to the Cruise for Cops this weekend?
Well school started so I'm on hiatus for the next 9 weeks. The P5 won't get much done to it except the regular washes and another waxing before winter.... Can't wait till winter's over and it's not even here yet. Oh well.
