Hey Folks,

I would like to know which air intake I should get for my new hatchback. After having two Infiniti G35 Sedans, I wish to keep my new car sounding nice and quiet. Not like a rice car. (help) I'm looking at getting a Speed3 Air Intake for my non-turbo 2.3L.

Please provide me some suggestions.

Thanks! (cool)
Stephen

FYI - After I ger an air intake, I will more than likely get a Borla cat back exhaust.

some searching might help you out. BTW, a speed 3 intake is one of the most restrictive things you could put on your car. It gets all its air from a tiny 2.5 inch opening, which is then covered by a plate and foam. (sleep)

Well, that is why I'm asking the odd questions. From what I can tell, there are no performance shops here in San Antonio. If/When I drive back to Houston, I will go to one place and ask them a few questions. His place does a great deal of work on Nissan/Infiniti, Toyota, Evo's, Subs and many other brands.

Did you decide which CAI to go with? I'm thinking about the AEM only because they have an air bypass valve to avoid hydrolock. Can someone explain how that works and if it's even necessary? I live in Florida and am moving to HI....lots of rain in both places.

If the bypass valve is really of no use, what about the K&N?

At this time, no. I have not added anything to my Mazda. I'm now starting to look into an Air Intake. I'm thinking about the F2 Mazda 3 Intake. http://www.f2usa.com/index.php?main...id=158&zenid=5222ad0db8e21458edad5cf1f5f1dce6 The price on it is nice and under $200.00.

Has anyone used it before? What are the Air Intakes YOU USE for your 2.3L? Now that I'm moving out of San Antonio, TX, I wish I would have bought a Speed3. Everything down here is flat land. No hills or anything.

I want a darn Air Intake but I keep holding off to get one. I still do not know which one I want to get. I'm not going to do that many add-ons to my 2.3L. Just Air Intake, Muffler and possibly some pullies. I can't get anyone to respond back to me with the items they like. Also, there are no Mazda car buffs down here in the Valley to talk to.

i cant recommend one , but i can recommend against the aem. it seems many folks have gotten CELs from it

I actually have the F2 CAI and I love it. (2thumbs) But the question you should ask yourself is do I want a SRI or CAI and am I getting this for performance, sound lor Looks? The mazda 3 has a nice selection of CAI and SRI depending on what area you wanna get into too.

Good. I'm glad that someone has the F2 and likes I. I will be ordering one for myself by years end. I want something before my 2nd oil change so I do not need to get another air filter for it. After the Air Intake, I might get the Borla Cat Back, however, I'm checking into a few things.

BTW - I just do not wish for my car to sound like a ricer. I want it to have a deep exhaust sound. Yes. I know these cars only have a 4 banger, so, it will not be able to sound like either of the Infiniti G35 sedans that I had in the past.

I just got a MazdaSpeed Accesory CAI Installed today. Feels great, didnt notice a sound difference. But the power increased a bit.

Dang it. The F2 intake is not available at this time. I WANT A NEW AIR INTAKE DANG IT!!!!!!!!! (rant) I hope they respond to my request on Monday.

I'm going to be adding an intake this spring and will be going SRI. You guys think the CF Simota is a good choice? Any vendor selling the V3 version which is supposed to avoid any CEL issues?

CAI - Which one?

Okay boys and girls,

Which CAI should I get? Here is a like to GIP Motorsports who is selling AEM CAI for $230.20. Link is:

http://www.gripmotorsports.com/dl.aspx?pnd=Mazda-3-2008

They also have an Injen Intake for $229.93. Link to it is:

http://www.gripmotorsports.com/pi~pn~Injen+Cold+Air+Intake+System+Mazda+3-2760.html

Only thing about it is they show it for an '04 to '07 2.0L/2.3L.

All I am looking for is performance. Not top speed. Mazda's do not go that fast for top speed if ya know what I mean.
