I'm going to attempt to just clean mine. If I fail I want to redo do the head liner. Whats your experience with head liner?
What process would you take?
Any other suggestions before I start on it?

Ok no response as of yet, so maybe someone can tell me who is selling or where to purchase 3rd gen headliner instead?

pm forcefed he took his out

a couple people on the forums actually painted theres with vinyl/fabric paint and it looks really good
search around, i cant remember the other peoples names

I pulled mine out and painted it with carpet interior paint, SEM or somthing like that. IMO it looks great and I painted it black so It does not show dirt anymore................

Rob

BTW getting it out is not fun

Excellent ideas, thanks for the replys. Now I just have to locate black vinyl/fabric paint. This will be perfect!

What makes the removal of the headliner so difficult?

i highly recommend you dont clean with any water or cleaning solution. i guarantee you will end up with a saggy stained headliner.

your best bet is to probably just paint it. but if you absolutely have to clean it, use minimal amounts of water. it is attached with a glue, and i have many horror stories on the detailing forums im on about headliner cleaning screw ups.

hard to clean it without some sort of cleaning solution don't you think? ;)

Try 303 Cleaner & spot remover. Works great on headliners. Just don't over saturate. In fact very little product is needed.

Don't know about painting it, but I have seen several DIYs on recovering them and it seems very easy.

My headliner is stock grey and doesn't really flow with my interior. I was wondering about the same thing. Looking forward hearing about your experience KrayJay and seeing some pictures.

Anybody else painted thier headliner?? Post pics please.

I highly recommend painting your headliner. I painted mine black along with the side moldings and it came out great.

The visors aren't painted in the pics but they are now done and it looks even better. I plan on doing the door material next.

I used duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. I used about 4 cans for the entire job. You're going to want to take all the side plastic pieces out as well as the headliner. Its not hard...it just takes some time. Prep time should be focused on the plastic. No sanding is needed, just make sure they're clean. The headliner is straight forward.

haha thanks for the idea! im getting sick of my stock gray and brown look (puke)
now to get my windows tinted and get a simi dark black/ greay tone going :D

also think it would work with seats? just a thought?

yep the hatch definitely made it a lot easier to remove. also, the color I used was the flat black duplicolor vinyl and fabric spray. you can find it at your local auto parts store.
