mazdaspeed protege Engine Swap ideas...

yes, is the mazdaspeed so..keeping the abs would be fantastic.
another thing is the speedometer is based off the abs so keeping the stock ecu is a must

and people...if you are going to start saying "put a gen engine and open the doors so you can fly" bs, keep it to yourself.
as stated before, the swap is very doable....nothing crazy

In that case you have two choices: FS-ZE -or- 97+ MX-6 ECU OBDII with ABS to power a KL-ZE !!

how and what did you do to make your FS-ZE Engine to work properly, what ecu etc.. are you going to turbo your ZE engine ? what are your plans.

I still say pull an FE3 out of a wrecked 01-03 Kia Sportage, bump compression a tad, get the jdm cams, add turbo of your choice, tune it, and go to town on that beast.

JDM ECU and wiring harness that took forever to modify to work !!

just wondering, whats the point of using the FS-ZE ? are you going to do anything special, turbo ? what are you plans. always wanted to see sobody do these swap

Trying to have fun with N/A. ITB's, piggyback, lightened flywheel and pullies, etc...

It definately pulls better than a STOCK MSP because the power is there throughout the powerband, but turn up the boost on the MSP and I'll get walked.

hahaha nice,, how does it feels to have an engine nobody have ? or atleast an angine lots of people wants but cant get it to work. just for curiosity how much you paid for it, how you got it from Japan ? also what is that little plastic cover in the intake manifold ? are the JDM manifold different ? i would love to see that engine boosted. also are they stronger than the FS-DE, any particular differences between them 2.. sorry for so many questions.. you seem to be the only one who can answer them

It feels nice just to have the car back on the road !!

I paid just a little over $1000 with the harness. I then got the ECU from corksport for another $200 I believe.

The plastic cover on the IM is a resonance chamber, it's tuned for the powerband.

The engine is not good for boost because of the higher compression than North AMerican models.
As for them being stronger, I am not sure, but I think they use the same rods...

Some of the swap options I'd consider myself, because I want to swap as well.

-Honda K-20a 2.0L (Type-R)
-Mazda MZR 2.3L Turbo
-Nissan SR20DET bluebird fwd

hmmm, All the trouble of swaping and still stock turbo set up ?
I guess this is the DD ?
what else you got under your sleeves ?

As far as contributing to the thread,
You're in difficult position Daniel, $$$$$ makes the diff. I'd say from what options are available other wise all of the options will require almost same hassle/headache/trouble/work IMO.

pick only 2 : cheap , reliable , fast (you already know this)
