really stupid que about our heat/ac system.

ok, my owners manual is in wife subaru (somehow) and it is in the shop for maint. i dont have my instructions. so here goes:

can i change the temperature of the "residual" venting air with the system off? in other words, in all of my other cars, with the system off, i can turn the temp knob to either hot or cold and that will adjust the temp of the air leaking in. with this car, i shut the system off, and that knob goes dead. in the bay area, there are many micro systems. i can use my AC, pass thru a tunnel and need heat on the other side. i hate having to turn the system on, flip it hot or cold (via digital temp readout) and then turn it off again. i think the climate control system on our cars is the worst part of the MS3. the knobs suck, the off button is only for "off", you turn it on by turning the fan knob. the knobs are too thin, for big hands, they are slick. the list goes on.

LOL... You can manually change the temp with the system off and just change the thermostat temp up or down. The auto may try and come on just turn it back off again.

There's a neat trick that moderates the temperature nicely. The button is just to the left of the driver, on the arm rest. (evil)

At least that's one more parameter to play with to make up for lack of adjustment on the climate control system.
