New Mazdaspeed 3

I found one of the last remaining new Cosmic Blue Mazdaspeed 3's. It's a Grand Touring (no navigation.) It stickers for $24,700. They want $23,000 plus tax/tag. They said that it would be about $25,000 (Out the door).

What do you guys think of that deal? Are the 2008.5's any better?

I was originally planning on a regular mazda 3 value edition, but I got a good raise that gives me an extra $250.00 a month. (yippy) I'm worried about the speed 3 because I'm hearing that some people are having problems with the turbos and engines.

Any feedback wil be appreciated.(bow)

the turbo problems arised only in the 2007 models, if its a 2008 you have nothing to worry about. problems seem pretty hard to come by other than the turbo issues and rear motor mounts. the motor mount problem has occured on all of the models, and is an easy $90 / 30 minute installation fix with a visit to the aftermarket.

also, how many miles does this have on it? if it were a regular mazda3 i wouldnt care how many miles were on the car, but when i bought my speed3 i made damn sure it had less than 10 miles on it, god knows how it could have been treated with 150+ test drive miles on it.

good luck!

There arent many changes from the 08 to 08.5, just 2 new exterior color options and some interior styling differences, that and all the 08.5 stereos play mp3 cds. I know theres a list floating around on this forum somewhere about all the differences but its nothing major. If you change your oil every 3000-5000 miles and do the first oil change between 1000-2000 miles you should have no problem with your turbo.

As for the motor mount issue the 07 were breaking the top driver side mount not the rear but it is recommended to get a rear motor mount, I have the TRZ poly and love it, the car is much more responsive and fun, also replacing the shifter bushings helps the shifting, those two mods will run you just about or a little over $100 and maybe together an hour install time.

It has 48 miles on it. I assume that those are hard driven miles. It's good to know that the 2008's aren't having turbo problems. They arent moving too much on the price, so I wanted to make sure the I was getting ripped off. I guess that $1,700.00 off the sticker isn't too bad. Thanks again.

There are some dealers around getting about $3000 in markups, some that wont budge off MSRP and some that go $500-1000 off MSRP so as long as your not paying over I wouldnt say your getting ripped off. 48 miles isnt too high but they were defiantly hard driven miles, probably nothing to worry about though.

MS3 GT, I just had my integra stolen a month ago and insurance didnt cover it either, not the type r or as nice as yours sounds, mine was just a stock spotless gsr.

Damn, sorry to hear about your car. I hope that the cops find it in one piece. What's up with your insurance? Didn't you have full coverage?

I paid $22,500 before taxes (~$24000 OTD) for my '08 Cosmic Blue Mica SPORT. $500 more for a GT? Go for it.

Thanks DKo5. I think that it's a decent deal. I just want to have a nice reliable car with some pep. I don't drive too fast, but I like to be able to gas it once in a while.

My concerns were answered regarding the turbos and weak engines that I previously read about. I'm trying to negotiate it a little lower. We'll see where it leads. Maybe since the good APR deal is over on the speed3, they'll work with me a little more.

Thanks again all!

I paid $22,740 for an 08.5 GT OTD it was $24,900. Honestly, I think its worth it to pony up the couple hundred and get an 08.5

And also, a lot of dealerships lately have been selling the 08.5 for under 23k before TTL so I would probably aim for ~$22,700-800. That was my absolute MAX that I was going to pay for this car and i'm lucky that my price fell right in between. With the economy how it is the buyer has a lot more leverage seeing as how dealerships are working their asses off trying to get these speeds off their lots.

Thanks dandydaniel. The 2008.5 doesn't come in Cosmic Blue, which is my favorite color. If you got a 2008.5 for $22,740, don't you think that I should try to get a 2008 for $22,500? Obviously, they arent selling as fast at this dealership if they still have a CB 2008 GT. I might just suck it up and get it. Afterall, it is a cosmic blue GT.

i would wait til close to the end of the month and see if u can see their invoice. my dealer gave me the invoice price so the sale can be on June's quote. btw the turbo problem is happening to all years, its just poorly made i hear.

Don't show all of your cards come negotiating time. If you're deadset on a Cosmic Blue, I wouldn't let the salesperson know that. Throw out some BS about Metro Grey being your first choice, but you'll "settle" for an '08 if the price is right. That'll give you some wiggle room to talk them down.

I love the piano black trim and Alcantara inserts on my '08.5 GT. I would have to be talked down at least $500 to go into an '08 GT with the cloth inserts and silver trim.

I agree. I actually told him that I also liked the white. (which I do). So what's the deal with the turbos? Also, I've heard that the A/C doesn't blow very strong. In S.Florida, A/C is a top priority. I guess we'll see what happens. I plan to go to a local dealer in a little while to look at a 2008.5. The cosmic blue is about 4 hours away, so that will have to be next week. Thanks again everyone for your feedback.

It been rather warm in michigan lately, 90s and humid, ac blows strong and cold for me, within 5min of starting the car too.

i usually keep my ac on about the 2nd fan setting, which is pretty weak but gets the job done unless its above 90 or so.

the auto button will really blow the cold stuff tho. if you need to cool down quick, hit that and the temp will drop pretty quick.

I sure hope you bought that car!

Summer temps over here are usually over 120F. I have had absolutely no problems with the AC, in my experience it works really well.
