SRI = Cheaper and works just as well. Cold air box coming soon?
CAI = (fuoops)
Depending on how much the cold air box costs that might make the cost the same as a cai. Then which becomes better, sri with cold air box or cai?

And I don't have to take the intake off every time I go to the dealership
^^
You're talking about the MS CAI right, not just any intake??
I went with the cobb. Easy to install, looks and performs great.
If you want to dig in your fender everytime you want to clean your filter be my guess. CAI not worth it IMO.
I had a JLT Carbon Fiber CAI on my 03 Cobra. I Switched it to a SRI. No performance loss what so ever. I am sure the same applies here.
I went with a MS CAI because of the warranty and as somebody previously stated, it just makes sense that a performance part added to a car provide you with the maximum amount of performance. Hence, the CAI wins over a SRI.
Sure, it looks pretty damn cool and yeah, it's easy to clean. But, it's not giving you all the HP available for this type of mod.
Several months ago, people posted up dyno charts and I saw that most people were getting 20-25 hp out of the MS CAI. The best I have seen for the Cobb SRI was like 15 hp. If losing 5-10 hp isn't an issue for you, then yeah, why get a CAI? Either way, it's going to add more power and sound pretty awesome
It IS hard to argue with a lower price and easier maintenance though.
EDIT: and does in fact make your engine bay more sporty. Here in FL though, it gets HOT so I want all the cooling I can get which is why I am going to eventually get the TMIC as well.
driver311 took back-to-back dynos of his CAI in CAI and SRI configurations. i believe he used a fujita CAI, and he got basically the same results from both configurations.
the reason a SRI does not perform noticeably worse than a CAI in a turbocharged car is because our intake air is first compressed (raising the temp significantly), and then cooled down using ambient air by the TMIC. this means that if you're comparing a CAI and SRI, and the intake air temp difference was 20F (as an example), the difference in air temp will be significantly less by the time it hits the intake manifold. this is why the CAI does not give as big of a performance upgrade in turbocharged cars as it did in hondas and nissans (NA cars).
I agree, and welcome to the forums!
