does anyone have a tire manufacturer they like best? I've had two sets of Firestone/Bridgestones and they sucked. Wondering about other brands. Thinking about Goodrich Traction T/A. Anyone tried those?

Though I love the performance of the Potenzas, I hate the price they charge for a 140 treadware tire. I am also looking for a replacement tire for when these things are toast. My only concern so far has been trying to find a tire with a 93 rating. Haven't had any luck just yet.

Two questions for you...

Are you driving a M6 or MS6?

Why do you think the BS tires "suck"?

Now, the BFG TT/A is a very good tire for "regular" commuting in a M6, but I wouldn't recommend it for "spirited" driving in a MS6. I have a set of them on my minivan and they're great for the task. The tread is wide and deep for a smooth quiet ride, but makes it a bit vague and loose for fast work. The BS Potenza line is as good as it gets in a reasonable wear, very quite, excellent grip street tire. There are sales on the TireRack.com web site all the time. You can check the Sam's Club web site to see if they have the tire you want. It will be the cheapest price available and include road hazard warranty.

I'm driving an M6. The first set of tires were the Turanza EL41. Second set was Firehawk GT. I rotate the tires each time I get an oil change, which is about every 5000 miles. Both sets of the FS/BS tires generated alot of road noise. Both wore horribly for highway driving. I got about 40k miles out of the Turanza and I'm just under 50k for the Firehawk. Traction was ok with each type during rain and snowy weather.

Just have to chime in on this one being a manager at a tire/auto shop. The stockers IE the BRS potenza re050s are excellent tires sticky as hell, no road noise, great sidewalls for cornering. HOWEVER the 140 treadwear rating SUCKS i have just over 12k on my 07 ms6 and mine are spanked. Even with excellent roation habits and weekly pressurechecks.

Now for the set i suggest to anyone looking for the same attributes as the potenza without the terrible wear rating, would be the nitto neo-gens. I put a set on jaxjeff's 06 ms6 and he loves them. 10k on them and they still look like new. and they are resonably priced at about 105$ a pop.

Where can you find them??

really? you think the potenzas are quiet? my winters are quieter.

and +1 on where to find the neo-gens

Yes, the "potenzas" are especially quiet for a Z rated sticky tire. The OP does not have the potenzas, he has the turanzas which are quieter yet. My `03 Miata came with them.

"Winters" are usually very soft tread which results in a very quiet tire, especially the BS Blizzaks. I ran them many miles in South Dakota winter, even raced them on the ice on Stockade Lake in the Black Hills... Of course, YMMV

Nitto neo-gens i get from one of my local tire distributors, ATD. I really don;t know where to get them otherwise.
