Lime Rock Park-Mazda Corral

Getting psyched up!

Marlon & Ray - speaking of banners. Mind if I put something up again this year for the Concoroso Ferrari Chairty event on June 15? It's a benefit for the Connecticut Children's Hospital, Village for Children and the Autism Foundation. If you remember I spoke about it briefly last year.

It'll be a small poster on a stand most likely.... Nothing to intrusive.

Please do, my wife Lauri will be posting information up about the raffle we'll be holding this weekend for Autism Speaks.......we always encourage the clubs giving back to the community, Mazda is really big on this as well.

OK here's a brief rundown for Friday:

Corral tickets are no longer for sale. I can't help people that don't have one, unfortunately. Nor will I let them in or allow them to stay. That is just unfair to the track, Mazdaspeed, and the people who purchased corral passes. Recall that there was plenty of advanced notice on this.

I'm going to be there bright and early at around 8-9 AM tomorrow Friday the 23rd getting the Mazdaspeed Shu Go ("Gathering Place") corral set up.

For those never been to the track, here is the Google Maps address:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=White...US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wl

Enter the track through the White Hollow Rd entrance. After the ticket area, you will go over a bridge. Make a right turn after the bridge to reach the corral. It's in the skidpad, the giant circle on this map:

I might recruit a couple of you to help me set up the corral and put up signs. The sooner we get that done, the sooner we head to the paddocks. :)

Please see the attached schedule. Note that this schedule is subject to change and is very dependent on the racing schedule.

Seeing that Rolex and Koni are going to be busy practicing in the morning, we'll visit the Tri-Point, Tindol, and Horton Motorsports first. We'll visit the RX-8 teams afterwards as they become available after their practice (SpeedSource, ROAR, Racers Edge, and Hypersport).

Note that at 1155, we have a drivers' meeting and pre-grid for our parade lap, where I will brief you on the parade lap.

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH - ATTENDANCE TO THIS DRIVERS' MEETING IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PARADE LAP PARTICIPANTS. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED. IF YOU AREN'T AT THE MEETING, YOU DON'T GO ON THE PARADE LAP.

Afterwards, we will have our parade lap as soon as we are cleared by race control.

Depending on how many teams we have the impromptu meet-and-greets in the morning, we will go back to the paddocks to meet the rest of the teams in the afternoon (as their racing schedule allows). Or, if we met all of them I'll let you guys loose to go wherever you please (watch the practice/qualifying, hang out at the paddocks, hang out at the Shu Go, etc.)

After 6 PM, I will be leaving the track but you guys are free to hang out at the Shu Go

PM me or Marlon(perro del sol) for my cell phone number. I am available until 1 AM tonight. I'll check my PMs again before I leave at 0500 or 0600 tomorrow, but after that I will have no access to these forums until Friday night.

Here are some pics from Friday.. I ran out of battery so I couldn't take more and Saturday I had a migraine hit so I missed most of the racing. I'll make up for it on Monday.

Chris, Kent Park is canceled. The BBQ is going to be at Lime Rock due to Kent Park wanting to charge $10 a car. I'll try to have Bruce or Mark call you to let you know in case you don't get this.

We got mentioned in the LRP daily press release:
http://www.limerock.com/news/read/l...off-with-fast-fridays-practice-and-qualifying

Not all the cars on track were race cars, as members of the Mazda Car Club, who were parked together in the Mazda Car Corral, got to take to the track behind the Lime Rock Park BMW M5 for some pace laps.

Today Saturday we have a BBQ at the Mazdaspeed Shu Go corral. Repeat. We have a change in plans -that's at the corral at the track, NOT Kent State Park. Marlon and I spoke to the various teams and drivers and they have accepted our invitation to join Mazda funs for burgers and hotdogs.

Mazdaspeed corral participants drop by the Racers Edge paddock to talk about their three rotor RX-8 race car.

ROAR Racing gave us a tour and let Mazdaspeed fans sit in their ST class RX-8.

Nick Ham, driver of the #70 24 Hours of Daytona-winning SpeedSource RX-8, stops by the corral.

Craig Stone, driver for Racers Edge, stops by to talk to rotary fans.

More photos to follow! We still have more races on Monday and a meet and greet with SpeedSource tomorrow!
