COBB SRI Installed!

You guys ever think about the fact your battery is getting colder air then your SRI? lol

No tough guy and nothing against you it was the other douche that has been giving me issues in multiple threads you just decided to jump in with more stupid talk so thats where it went.
 
This intake is great, I had a cold air intake on my cobalt ss and had issues with it as far as the tube braking...... this intake is very well built and the horsepower feels alot better through the powerband. My tires growl even from a second gear roll!
 
testing has showed that while car is in motion the diffrence in air temps of the cai vs the sri are negligable. i didnt belive it untill i used my dashhawk and noticed no diffrence. when your sitting at a light the sri heats up faster but the cai heats up as well. i just switched over to the cobb sri (cobb AP) and the sound is about the same. i was more at ease when we had a big rain this week driving around then i was with my cai. granted the chances of hydrolock are low with a CAI its still higher then a SRI.

I never posted anything about exceeding the posted speed limit on public roads. You are just angry about your dicision, life moves on.

Sorry man but I have no idea why you could ever imagine turbo heat being directly fed into your SRI as being a good thing. Pretty much what you added was a cheezy ass way of being able to hear the blow off valve as if you had a real CAI at the expense of a few saved bucks and sucking hot air. Dyno a car with the hood open and a big ass fan over it then yeah no difference. Shut the hood and drive down the road where there is no cool air any where near that SRI and you are nuts to think it is better or "pulls on MS3's with a CAI" I read that s*** from your other posts and got a good laugh.

I cant hardly touch the CAI pipe near the engine bay after a regular drive putting around town so sticking a filter right there makes a lot of sense to me.

You're right, the CAI is so much better that Mazda issued a stop sale due to lean conditions and the dyno results of the SRI are BS... all it does is make noise.

The stock airbox is pulling in the same hot air as the CAI, only through a much more restrictive filter. The point of the SRI is not getting a cooler charge. You're missing the point. Badly.

whitey, do you really believe after all the dyno proof that the cobb sri is no better than our factory airbox????????

The factory airbox (if you've looked at it) runs pipe to the front of the hood. Essentially it's pulling fresh air, or at the least, not the hot charge coming off the motor you're talking about.

there are many dyno charts showing favor on either side of the arguement... but once the hoods go down the cars are in motion, sri vs cai is so close its negligable.

Also, the battery needs that air to stay cool too. Don't want a blown-up overheated battery under that hood!;)

No I dont think that. I am sure the SRI is better then stock but it seems what is considered better is by a small margin and I see your points. If thats the case and the savings is what motivates others to SRI then cool. But to say its pulling harder and less prone to hydro lock etc is dumb.

If someone was able to price with the hoods down there is hardly a difference then I would be surprised. I would think that would be when the biggest difference takes place. That SRI is just sitting in the engine bay with no moving air. On that note why dont oyu guys cut that little square deal out which was used for the regular 3 filter ducting. Saw it on the How To thread and it didnt make sense to do with a CAI but perhaps it will get some air near that SRI.

About the stop sale on the MS CAI I just dont get why it happened. Mine is perfect and has been for nearly 21k miles. All that broke was the silly metal housing cross piece that holds on to the filter nipple. I fixed that with a small nut and bolt and just rechecked all the fittings and its solid.

It just seems funny to me that a filter could ever cause such issues and it wasnt something else. They should have at least changed the ECU but I guess thats another story. I am keeping mine until or if it ever gives me an issue but at least its not after market and I wont get s*** for it.

The point of the SRI isn't getting cooler air, its removing the really restrictive stock airbox. Getting cooler air...while better... is overrated for a turbo car where you have an intercooler. Plus, like someone else said, once you begin moving the intake temp difference between SRI and CAI is so small its not an issue. SRI made more sense to me....cheaper, easier to clean/maintain, just as much power (I had the MS CAI back in the day), and its louder :)

my cobb sri arrives today. i was going to wait until this weekend to slap it on, but i think i'm too anxious and will do it tonight. :D

Perhaps you could just make a SRI out of your CAI. A bubby of mine has done this and noticed no decrease in power (He actually ran a faster 1/4 time). Only thing that changed was that he isn't worried about hydrolock and his filter is easier to clean :)

Took me throwing my old buick off the road going around a wet corner. Right through the metal barrier, bushes, and into a brick pillar holding up a "welcome to" sign. Ouch, that sucked big time.

I paid the ticket / lawyer and got 4-pts on my license. Once again, get off my Nutz unless you are perfect.
