2 years old and 53,000 miles later...

My little 5 just turned 2 and she's got over 53k miles on her.

Except for the two issues that have been resolved by the dealer (replaced leaking power steering hose, and idler pulley), the car is still performing as new.

I think I'll go ahead and change the gearbox oil at 60k miles though.

I rolled over 60,000 today and mine is 2.5 years old so we are on the same track.

No issues. Sure, the suspension creaks. I had both remotes replaced under warranty. Otherwise it's all good.

I wonder about the ATF fluid as well. I'll likely change it next time I change the oil.

I am very happy with the 5. I plan to drive it 150,000 miles. That is just 4 more years!

Mine just turned one and I wonder why I bought a new vehicle...... a whopping 6500kms in one year!! ;-0
At this rate it should last forever!!
Working from home now sure keeps the kms low!

my 5 is a little over 2 and I only have 11K on her. My speed3 on the other hand, 2007 is already have over 18K. The 5 is my weekend driver (with wife and kid) and the ms3 is for daily fun =p

I will probably keep it forever. My oldest son will turn 13 this fall, and I've told him that this car will be his first car. I take meticulous care of it (as I do all of my cars) and I plan on it lasting for a good while. I'm on track to pay it off early and buy something that I want and continue to use the 5 as a daily driver until I give it to him....

When mine went in for the power steering hose they replaced the bushings, so no suspension sounds..

The wife's 5 is almost 3 (on july 21st), but shes only got 17k on her. Alot of miles for her actually, she turned in a 5 yr lease sunfire gt when I met her with 18k on it :-)

btw the 5 is fine, other than a strange odor we cannot for the life of us locate...Gotta love 2 yr olds.

What do people around here say about the suspension creak? Time for shocks and struts? Is there some other issue?

It went in several times for the creak. Only happens in cold weather. Which only happens about 20 days a year around here. So I'll just live with it.

I forgot to mention I did have a motor mount blow out. That was replaced in warranty.

coming up on 80k since fall 2005

obviously we're getting some good use out of our 5 - our primary hauler for 2 adults and 2 kids under 4 - occasionally we've squeezed 3 60lb dogs in with us for road trips (pretty cozy but the roof rack cargo carrier saves the day).

we've got a 2006 5 speed manual purchased in August '05. Only legit complaint - the passenger armrest - so I'm jealous of you 2008 owners.

We would probably have 5-10k more on it but we were without it for a couple of months with the original exhaust recall fiasco. Then, we went without it for about a month in January 2007 (around 40k) when a fast-change oil place put some 10W40 in - which I'm convinced was the root cause of a cracked rod. Otherwise - highly reliable. Stay religiously with the 5W20 - especially in cold weather regions.

overall real-world mileage is good but - as I've ranted on this forum before - I'll get 370+ miles on a 13 gallon fill-up in states with less ethanol content. Here, I'm happy to get 320. Big-time mileage benefits when I stay 55-60 mph. Maybe a six speed is in order :) - I like the current power in 5th but wouldn't mind a few more mpg when taking trips at 70mph.
