Eng. oil and transmission oil

I'm guessing you're going to get Amsoil as the common response. Though I'm curious to see myself, I'm at 568 and looking to do the oil and tranny fluid changeout at 1k.

Most common answers will be Pennzoil Platinum and MT90. That is the exact combo I will be putting at my next (and second) oil change at 4000 miles.

So, is the Mazda oil they're putting in at the stealership gonna ruin my engine? I'm changing @ 3000mi intervals.

I guess this is what they call threadjacking? (moon)

No oil will "ruin" your engine, especially at 3k intervals. However, it seems that DISI engines have a fuel dilution issue that PP handles better than most. My plan is to run PP starting at my 4k oil change and run it for 4k intervals.

Could someone post the link where this Pennzoil Platinum information is being reported? Preferably with the DISI inclusion.

I just ordered Amsoil motor and tranny fluids, but would like to review DISI specific UOA's regarding Pennzoil.

Thanks.

There are a variety of threads in the various forums that discuss it. Many have done UOA's with the PP and had very good results.

I'm going to be running RLI (Renewable Lubricants Inc.) they're a small company out of Ohio and make a Bio-Syn that Terry Dyson (if you don't know him google him) has recommended for engines with fuel dilution issues. I'm swapping that in at 500 miles and then will send an analysis to Terry at which point we'll decide on a oil change interval and also on what weight to use long term.

Penzoil Platnium is another pretty good oil for fuel dilution issues and is available at your local store. Either way I'd recommend having Terry Dyson do an analysis to make sure everything is wearing well and to determine the proper drain interval.

Am I living under a tree? Or is this fuel saturation a the new issue for this week. It seems to me that just last week people were praising Royal Purple, and Amsoil for being the tops in motor oil, and this week it's Pennzoil Platinum. I guess I'm biased because I've never been a fan of Pennzoil.

I guess what I'm asking is, what is this fuel saturation, and why is it all of a sudden such a big deal?

I am going to go with the tree.

RP is great, but does not do well in the MS3 due to the fuel dilution issue.

EDIT: For those that think it isn't an issue, just Google it. Here, I've saved you the trouble.
