I was wondering how difficult it was to remove the front bumper. Does anyone have any pics and the locations of all of the bolts? Thanks
It's actually a piece of cake. I don't have any pics, but you shouldn't need them. Do this:
1. Remove 11 bolts that hold the bottom of the bumper to the underside of the car. They are either 10mm or phillips (go with the phillips)
2. Remove the two screws (again phillips) and the four clips from the top of the bumper.
3. Remove the two front clips from each front wheel well. Then pull back the lining and remove the screw (phillips) that holds the bumper to the fender. It is up at the top, and is a vertical screw.
4. Then remove the bumper. There are clips that will pop right out that hold the bumper to the fender. There are also a couple of big clips in the front that clip into the bumper support. You'll see what I mean.
5. Un-clip the fogs and the temp sensor.
You're done.
AWSOME!!!!! Thanks for the response!!!
In step 4 you talk about clips.... are these clips hard to get off? I have encountered some parts mounted with clips that make you pull so hard to get them off that you feel like you are braking something.
By the way, what are you doing?
I installed a cpe cai wihtout removing the bumper or wheel.
I'm a paranoid person, and I've never owned a CAI before. I think I would be kind of worried with water situations, even with a bypass valve or whatever it is you use to help avoid hydrolock. It floods a lot in certain places here.
While you have it off, add in a low tone horn so you can honk without embarrassment. It's a $14 mod that takes 3 minutes. You can buy the horn at AutoZone that screws right into an existing bracket right next to the current horn. Easiest mod ever once the bumper is off.
Where is the horn? I know it is somewhere on the drivers side. Also, is it possible to just replace the stock horn? or is it better to have the low tone operate at the same time?
