racepipe/mid-pipe question

mazda dont care about us..they trying to void warranty even for turbo timer in my case....race pipe is good when you want keep your warany it easy to take it out when you must go to the dealer

It will pass emssions and you will not smell anything if the pipe dont leak,Im not sure why you would say that stuff. Most all emssions places just check for cell lights and dont inspect anything if the cel is not on.Maybe you are thinking that a race pipe deletes both cats,It only removes the 2nd cat.

I'm sorry. I thought that without cat the hydro carbon #s went very high. Maybe you did not notice the waiver from the manufacturer that the test pipes are for off road use only. If the man is sniffing your tailpipe, a test pipe or cat delete will not meet emissions in new york. peace

Why do you guys want a cat delete system? It won't pass inspection and you will notice the fumes. If you want a race car then this is a requirement, but a daily driver wants a cat. now the Mazda oem down pipe is very restricted. open that up and flow is increased enough to begin tuning> There are some reputable companies that offer a high flow cat system.

"Opening up" the flow on the DP involves removing cat #1. A RP involves removing cat #2. The only way around this is CP-E's catted DP, which is really a DP and RP in one. Even then, you'll be back to where I'm at, with only one cat.

Trust me, if there was a change in the smell, I've had heard my GF complaining immediately, like the last time I removed a cat from a vehicle. That lasted a whole 5 minutes before she rejected that idea.

do the downpipe and racepipe and be done with the exhaust. I've got the turboxs dp/rp combo and i couldn't be happier.

someone else said on here that mazda is voiding warranties with full tbe systems..It dont make sence to me but its something to think about or atleast maybe call your dealer and see what they tell you before you install one.If mazda keeps pulling this crap with people then I will think twice before I buy another mazda again.

They sure are *points to self* ... If they give me a chance to put my stocker back on to cover my turbo, then I will and sell my downpipe. The downpipe is cool because it has a nice sound to it, but it does increase the probability of getting fuel cut unlike just having the stock downpipe with a race pipe or test pipe. I know from personal experience. If you want to keep the warranty, stick with the 2nd cat delete. If you don't give a s*** at all, then go with the downpipe.

I think we all know that RPs are for off road use only. But like I said,Most if not all places now only hood up to the OBDII and check for codes if you have a 96 or newer car.If you have a code they will not pass you and give you 30 days to fix it and come back.

I've read many, many posts on this topic and this seems to be the summary.
Downpipe:
Huge power gain for the money (especially since they just came down in price).
Major PITA to swap out so potential for huge headache if warranty work required.

Racepipe:
Piece of cake swap so minimal headaches for warranty work.
Minimal power gains compared to downpipe, but still greater than a CBE for much less money.
Look very carefully at the photos of any racepipe you are considering. Not all have mounts for hangers, and this difference can be big in terms of making (and keeping) a leakfree fit in the system.

What kind of gains would I be looking at if I did the RP and the CBE and left the stock DP?

I'm assuming CPE is a typo and you meant CBE (cat back exhaust).
I cannot speak from experience, but from what I have read on this forum, and others, it makes no sense from a strictly power gain standpoint to do both if you keep the stock downpipe/cat, which is the single biggest restriction in this exhaust. Do one or the other unless you are really looking for a different sound, in which case I can't offer any suggestions. For power, it appears that the racepipe has a bigger gain than a CBE, but neither can compare to a downpipe.
As far as how much power, it sounds like an RP will give a noticeable improvement, but it is not going to turn an already quick car into a rocket by itself. In other words, it is probably worth it for the relatively short money and ease of install, but don't expect it to rock your world.
RP + CBE = waste of money with the factory DP in place.
Before I would spend that, I would do an RP and an aftermarket TMI (Top Mount Intercooler) which is in the same price range as most CBEs and probably worth a lot more power (not to mention the cool mod factor).

is it loud?? Is it gona be much louder if I will remove 2 resonators ann keep the muffler
?

Its a hair louder then I like but im use to it now.You could try removing the 2 resonators and leave the muffler and see.The only reason I did 1 reasonator and the muffler is because they are both at the end of the exhaust and easy to get too.You can check my sig for a sound clip of mine.

I wont remove them my self dont have welder and I want to leave mufler In case when cop want to check If I have muffler

Wisnia, check out flange kits at the auto parts store. You can break down exhaust into bolt up sections with no welding. I went with full Cork because I want more power now and I will need more flow soon enough. It seems there are three or so good down pipes, which is the most engineered part and very worthwhile. You could actually make your own test pipe with or with out hi flow cat and catback is more about defining your sound and smoothing some of the mazdas bends out

I just want rp and remove resonators...for little gain and better sound...I will take out rp and put stock cat while I will go for emission test in Ny

Great wisdom is upon you sir. A bit more than little gain and an awesome sound! Really will change the car's personality. It will be more than reasonable at idle and low Rs, but when you can get into it a little bit she starts to , well you'll see

heh I plan to do this before summer after doge bone mount ad forge bpv...after summer I plan upgraded tmic and waiting for coob ap and Ithink this all I want to do Its my daily ....

may i suggest you move Top mount up your list abit. In my opinion you will notice it most in the higher temperatures of summer. An excellent investment for me in person.
