New Bose Stereo Problems

No BS

I have a pretty good relationship with the service department that I use since my last car was an 04' Mazda 3 that I put 130,000 miles on so No, they're not just telling me to get me out of there.

If you guys want to ask him yourself about anything, it's Southern States Mazda in Raleigh, North Carolina (919) 839-7419. The guy I work with is Dwight. Very helpful. He did tell me that he doesn't know anything other than there is a problem that should have a fix by April or May but maybe he can give you a number for your service people to call and get a clue if they can't find it on their own.

Also, I did try the ALC on every level and still does the same thing, but who cares as far as I'm concerned if they really do have a fix for it, I'll be happy.

Honestly, I couldn't tell when ALC is on because at that point, I was paying attention to the sound difference between the different ALC levels. It doesn't seem to just adjust the volume, but the tone of the music changes between the levels. It sounds more harsh the higher the level. It distracted me from the original issue.

Am I the only non-Bose 2008.5 owner here?

and i was playing with mine yesterday and noticed the huge increase between 34-35, and randomly at time the good sound would cut out, and the lower sounds would come through, and i have yet to even hear the sub to tiniest bit. i hope this gets fixed soon. I want bose quality, not mazda problems

this only is for the bose system

So no non-Bose love in here? lol

It seems as though my non-Bose shares the same problem with the 34-35 "volume" increase. I put quotations because to me, it's more like a bass boost than just a simple volume increase.

I'm in the same boat as you Naddie, I have the 08.5 with non bose and have the 34-35 problem. It seems more pronounced sometimes than others though. Like you I dont seem to get a bass loss after 35. I've noticed with mine its like the volume doesnt change at all at 31 thru 34 then when you hit 35 it gets a good bit louder like its making up for not getting louder in the 31-34 range.

Edit: My bass DOES drop after 35. So basically my non-bose is acting just like the bose junk.

Sorry I'm grouchy today and took a cheap shot at Bose. The system they dreamed up for our cars really is poorly thought out and sounds mostly terrible. I have heard some reasonably good car systems from Bose but this isn't one of them.

my dealership didn't know s***, but they always dont know s***. But in an earlier post someone said they had information on a reflash

Well my service manager finally told me that its not an official problem yet but Mazda is aware of the problem and there is not a fix out yet. But he said their would be one soon. He said he actually was on a conference call with them last week and they will have some kind of answer by next week.

Just got our 8.5 last week (with the Bose), and I've noticed this problem as well. The problem seems worst around 35-37. It also seemed a lot worse when it was on ALC1. Levels 2, 3 or off didn't seem quite as bad. The first couple of days I didn't notice it at all as we were doing highway driving on ALC 3 with volume around 25.

But the last couple of days I was driving without my wife in the city. I turned it up a bit and it sounds terrible with the sub cutting in and out. At least I know its not just ours now. I'll keep an eye on it over the next week, to see if I notice the problem on ALC 2 or 3 or off. Maybe it occurs at a different volume level on these settings. Any comments?

Also wierdness at low volume!

I have the same problems at 34/35 as the others. Mine is an 08.5 MS3 GT.

I have an additional problem at lower volume and at slower speeds and stop and go where the bass will just go on and off somewhat arbitrarily. This is with ACL off. Please test for this and let me know if anybody has this issue.

The Bose sytem and the GPS have proved to be the most dissapointing things on my MS3.

Jeff

Simple dealership cop-out answer. My dealer told me they'd never heard of the BPV leaking. Then a ford engineer showed up and said "I'm here to look at one of your MS3's for a faulty bpv".
