Cobalt SS Ring record 8:22.85 & 103mph in the 1/4

Okay so it's a fast as a MS3 with Intake. I still wouldn't buy one, rather just MOD my MS3 a little and tear it up.

Takes the skill out of driving. (notcool)
The damn thing does everything for you! You don't have to launch, power-shift or anything! That is the fun in that??? Sure it's fast but it requires almost zero driving ability.

When you race one of these things, it's not the driver beating you it's the ******* car beating you.

i do the flat foot no shift deal, with no problems. actually, to me, the car drives much better when going no-lift shifts under WOT.

props to chevy for actually promoting it

SLS MS3 - 2.060, 8.691@83.54, 13.394@104.33 (I, DBE)
Focused - 2.319, 9.102@81.84, 13.8@102.67 (I/MM)

Sure stock for stock the Cobalt ss is probably slightly faster than the MS3 but big deal! What's so hard about spending $250.00 - $325.00 and putting on a cobb SRI and MM?

Couple of easy MODS is all it takes for a MS3 to take a Cobalt ss
Don't even need to up the PSI

IF I get a chance I'm running the 1/4 Friday with just Intake and MM. 13.8 @ 100-103 is highly doable in my opinion. I'll post my results if I get to run.

Note: Time in my sig was achieved with a bogged launch and ridding out 4th gear. 14.37 @99.81 with cobb sri & mm. I'm sure these mistakes cost at least .3 tenths and 2-4 mph.

+1

Ive been power shifting my ms3 ever since the mazda reps said its ok on this car.

Nice...slightly better performance than a MS3 out the box. I like how it gets 30MPG hwy and still pulls a 5 second 0-60 and a 1/4 mile time in 14 flat. Interesting how they engineered it to be a notch below the handling of an Evo.

If I were still in the market for a car, I'd give it a second look only if it had a better interior and 4 doors.

That thing throws down some sweet numbers, along with its rated mpg. Looks like they put in some cool tech too. I'd love to have some of it on the ms3. Props to GM!

Curious to see how quick it'll be w/aftermarket support.

ms3 time was done by a verry hot shoe and i dont remember seeing any other cars when they did the timed test. hot shoe was a gt driver. out the door it should have some major support especcialy from GM.

Well add the same mods to the cobalt and then ???

Interesting they continually compare it against the benchmark MS3

Well the MS3 was the benchmark quickest car. It was only time before some other manufacturer kicks it off it's throne.

The MS3 is a 4 Door hatch, good looking car. The Cobalt a 2 door dated coupe. Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to cars.

Don't knock the cobalt just because you have an MS3 and your ego can't take that another car is king now.

Props to GM for putting out a good car, it's about time they get their overseas divisions to spruce up the north american line-up.

I'm not trying to take anything away from GM's victory with the new SS. I think they finally did a good job.

However, I think it's more of a threat to the GTI/Civic Si market than us. Refinement refinement refinement. We have way more of that than any GM, no matter how fast. American companies couldn't make money if they made a car with fit and finish like an import.
