$2008 GRM V8 Nissan 240sx

I've been wanting to do this challenge since GRM started having them. Just the lack of time and money always held me back.

It's looking like the '09 Challenge will be held near the west coast. All you to-be Challegers on the east side better start getting your builds together for Florida this year.

Seems like kcbhiw got everyone hooked on the GRM Challenge...NICE! (thumb)

Great thread so far, Prodigy! You're not running a Mazda but I can't blame you for finding that super sweet platform to hit the track in plus the price is just right ;)...I'm definitely subsizzeling to this thread.

I wonder how this bad boy will stack up against Kevin's GRM Miata (drive)

Spring break is just around the corner. I hope to strip the entire car down to the ground pretty soon.

I hope it's halfway decent the first year.
I've found a couple problems with a car with 300k on the odo. (body flex = bad (blowup))

***Just checking Antoine -- Did you receive my PM about AMM status?***

I ended up spending that weekend prepping my friend's car for paint...
instead of the 240... and he totaled it.
Blah.

This project may come back to life...
Today I got a GARRETT GT22 (GT2256V) turbo for it's weight in metal!
I was with a friend at the scrapyard trying to find metal for his architecture project and I spotted the turbo under a heap of metal.
It has very little to no shaft play at all (.25mm in either direction).

From the #'s I believe it's from the Mercedes/Dodge Sprinter vans...
The only problem that I see at the moment is that the turbo has a electronically controlled Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT) fans...
Hopefully I'll find a cheap, vacuum-controlled/mechanical actuator to replace the electronic one.

I need to start playing with numbers to see if I should rebuild the extra KA24E (truck engine) or buy a used KA24DE + trans.

I think that I'll have the variable vanes at a fixed position until I figure out a way to control them with the rpms.

The good thing about this is that I can work on turbo manifold at the house... (see : why the 240sx isn't primered yet)

prodigy i have a sr20det t25 that i used on my ka24de. ill sell you that dirt cheap if you want that way you dont have to go and custom fab a mani and downpipe =)

www.ka-t.org is a great place to learn about setups you can use and ways to tune the ka motor. thats where i learned most of my stuff. Also www.zilvia.net is a GREAT place to get parts. you can get sr20 injectors and almost everything else on there all day long

Thanks for the links - PM is coming your way.
It looks like the gt22v is going to need a rebuild.. and I can't seem to locate a rebuild kit.

At least it'll make a nice paper weight in the dorms once I clean it up a bit.

So, how's the paint job so far?
The hood, rear hatch, fenders, and front bumper cover have primer.
My plans are to rebuild the next engine(SR20DE/KA24DE) in the garage until summer when I can bring the car down here from the lake house.
