Cobb SRI vs HKS Suction Intake

Hi guys and girls let me first off say that I did search and I could not find the answers to my questions that I was looking for. I am no stranger to turbo cars as my previous cars were:

1988 300ZX Turbo
1990 300ZX Twin Turbo
2004 SRT-4
2006 EVO IX
2007 Chevy Silverado (Why I don't know)
2008 MS3

I had the HKS Suction Intake on my 300ZXTT and my EVO IX. The HKS Suction performed well on both of those vehicles and I was going to order it for the MS3, but I read all these great reviews about the Cobb SRI.

I am not going to go with a CAI because I don't want to deal with any hydrolocking problems.

What I don't like about the Cobb SRI is that the intake pipe looks like it is made of silicon which if it is anything like Perrin's silicon pipes they collapse under load.

IF money wasn't an issue which intake do most of you prefer and why?

Again sorry for the newb intake question, but I did search before asking this question.

I went with Cobb's, very happy with it. The pipe on it very sturdy.

Money no object I would get CPEs CAI for CAIs and Cobb SRI for SRI

If money was no issue, there was this front mount intercooler goin around a while ago that placed a ram air where the top mount intercooler goes all in one package, someone else can probably tell you the name. As far as the HKS goes, I read something earlier that said the foam filter on that intake doesn't perform well and can allow quite a few particles to pass through.

The filter the kit comes with isn't all that great, but you can replace it with a 3 layer dry filter from HKS which works very well.

I think it might be Corksport, and they might have some other items available

thats one of the things i didn't really like about the cobb sri when i first received it. The silicon tube feels like it will collapse under loads, but i don't think that even under WOT that the silicon tube will.

I really wouldn't be to concerned about hydro-locking, the chances of this happening are so remote.

I have the CPE intake and love it. Great fit and finish. You can tell a lot of engineering went in to this piece. One thing they got right from the start was the keeping the air flow straightener, which keeps the fuel trims relatively stock, which in turn provides much better vehicle drivability. I say get CPE CAI, while it may be more expensive than the competition, the sad reality of it remains you always get what you pay for.

just FYI there is no load on it to make it collapse, the filter is very very efficient and i think it was cobb who dyno tested the filter and there was no power difference between the intake with or with out the filter. Remember, its not like its pulling through the factory paper filter

I have the new and improved LRI. Long Ram air Intake.

I keep an AC adapter and an OreckXL vacuum cleaner in the front seat. The Oreck has the suction power of a catagory 3 hurricane!!! Hard to beat!
The hose runs through the firewall to the front of the car. The Oreck filters water and dust and sends the cleaned and compressed air back to the turbo for aditional compressing.
All this added power with a life time warranty and replacement parts. Did I mention the price? Just $299 with monthly payments available.
Dyno results will be forthcoming.

I know you're joking, although I would love to see it hooked up!!! (hah) Similar... I actually remember seeing a video of a leafblower hooked upto the airbox on a new Civic Si on streetfire or something. Actually dynoed with some very impressive gains. I'll try to find it later, I'm at work not and they block that website.
