What have you done to your MSP today?

Wow second day of owning the car and I'm already fixing stuff...Anyway replaced the boost gauge fitting since it was garbage, and replaced the kinked up line for the gauge. Now instead of -10 vac i'm getting -20 vac and about 6-7 PSI of boost. Also fixed the shifter it is a short shifter, and to hold the shifter ball on the previous owner just wrapped some electrical tape around the shaft and that held it on till you shifted to 4th.

sounds like the last owner was a hack.

ordered my Perrin exhaust tonight! SOOO excited! i heard a rumor that Perrin is getting out of the Mazda scene? heard they wouldn't be making this exhaust much longer...
 
Yea he had this weird fascination for black electrical tape.

yea most modders who hack things do. i love the engine bay with wires just twisted together and tape over them. or the piggy back fuel controller that has no soldering at all, just twisted and taped wires. Sometimes its not even taped right, ive seen the 1 ply fold of tape. that scares me.

Let me rephrase before i get yelled at by the K1 users. Based on the ones ive had in my hand, and others ive seen, in production quality, they have some issues that would worry me at the horse power level you would like to achieve. Im sure theres others running them up where you want to be, but from the few ive seen, their quality could be alot higher.

yes i have a set of k1's. Please explain to my why i should swap out and pay almost twice what i paid for a set of pauters. What makes the pauters so much better then the k1's when the k1's are rated for 800 hp with the arp 2000 bolts. I mean ive heard s*** talk on both rods from different ppl. I would personally like to have someone explain to me why they are so much better. I want something more then you get what you pay for i want actuall logical reasons. Sorry if i seem like im a little agitated but theres been some things said like ditch the k1's and get some real rod's. Im just trying to find out what is a "Real rod" besides the one in my pants hahahahahah =).

thats why i rephrased what i said. The k1's are real rods, id imagine that those who said that, sell something else, or were sold something else.

I keep hearing this 800hp rating, but when they came out from mam, who had them 1st i beleive, he said 600. Really, its all a theoretical number. If your tune is no good, then guess what, they will break.

The ones i had in my hands, and ive seen for both this car, and other cars, i think the production on them, wasnt that good. Compared to other more expensive rods.

for example, casting lines and rough spots. There were quite a few, and on a few diff sets. Those can be considered stress risers. Normally its not the end of the world, im just worried at the hp level u want, it could be an issue while your getting the car up and running. I just dont think they can take the oopsies that a better rod can. Ive had the olivers in my hand, sure they cost more but you can tell the difference. Ive used pauter on other cars, and they were well made also. hell, even the eagles on my cavalier looked a lil nicer. and those are hbeam too.

Im not a professional, nor would i discredit the k1's theres lots of people running them. I would too, i was just concerend cause your goin for over 300whp, theres alot less room for error then.

Well thank you for that explaination. It was 100x better then anything else i have gotten =). Anythign will break with a bad tune thats a no brainer. We will see if they hold or not, and hey if they dont ill just have ot change some stuff out. I wasnt agitated with you just the talk against the k1 rods in general. You know i could never be mad at you =)
 
yea i know. i think alot of it is certain vendors (not just here). if they dont sell it "its crap". anything is bettter than stock.
