What have you done to your P5 today?

what areyour shift points? is that all freeway? i cant get anywhere close to that...

well I try to shift between 2.5k and 4k. Once in I while I'll take her to 6k. I would say I drive 80% stop and go traffic. 10% city. 10% freeway w/no traffic. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with advancing both cams 3degrees because before that I only used to get 300 to 310 before the gas light comes on. Now it come on at 350+ miles. Since I do mostly stop and go traffic and my cams are set for low end is why I think i get better mileage. And this is using 87octane. Tried higher octane fuel but 87 gives me best mpg. And this is all short trip drives cuz i live on an island.

I envy your gas mileage.

If i keep my highway speed at or below 65 I've gotten 400 miles with a mix of city/highway driving, 5speed shifting at or below 3000rpm 85% of the time. 87 octane.

nope manual...

i just filled my tank. 5.8 gallons. and i was sitting at 113 miles.

thats about 19 miles per gallon all city...

never tried that technique. Mine stays above f until about 120 miles. I'm going to try that. Go 100 miles and top it off.

Topped it off today 13.462 gallons at 370.9 miles

not sure. I think its driving in traffic 80% of the time LOL. Plus cams being tuned for bottom end i think cuz i did it myself. And according to my afr gauge i run 14-15 afr most of the time. It only goes extremely rich at wot. Cant wait till i get a ss afc then im sure my mpgs will go down.

hey i actually want to talk to you about cams.

i want to do the jdm intake cam from corksport. but i have no idea how to install it properly... and i cant find any install threads...

its easy taking out the stock ones. The most important thing is putting everything back the exact same order/position u took it out. I followed the instructions in the workshop manual. Honestly i have both intake and exhaust cams and little to no gains were felt. But im sure if i got the properly tuned/adjusted it would help but shops down here are asking $300 just turn some gears and dyno time. Sh1t im thinking ill pay $100 for three runs and adjust it myself. If i didnt already have them i would spend the extra $300 and try the integeral cams.

Everything can be done with hand tools and a buddy.

Man, that's crazy. I'm usually just above 1/2 tank when I hit 120/130 miles. Winter has been killing my mpg. I have been averaging 23mpg and 270 miles per tank since November.

ya, that's good mileage fo shua! (bow) i'm boosted auto and if i don't go crazy i get about 310 gallons before the light comes on...

I can get that per tank as well if I don't go crazy and I am NOT boosted.....WTF! (bang) :)

Think a clear coat would prevent this in the future?

I am not sure, but, I'm also not sure if the clearcoat will give it a glossy black look. Her and I both like the flat black. It doesn't look painted. It looks more OEM than the OEM bumper.

i know it's weird..(uhm)...and i got to tell you, i spend a lot of time down shifting and riding around town in 2nd....i got almost 29 mpg last year on our cruise out to lime rock...and believe me, i was in and out of boost climbing the hills and trying to stay up with the others! now if i'm on it a lot my mileage will drop down to 23-24ish

Eh, it really all depends on how you drive. I like how most people believe that shifting earlier and keeping low engine speeds will improve gas mileage. While this is true to some extent all engines have a speed at which they are the most efficient. I know for a fact that when I tested this by shifting into 4th to cruise at about 30 mph around town my mileage actually got worse than it was when keeping it in 3rd! For me, I like to keep the RPM a little higher because I can accelerate better without having to go into boost if I'm riding around at 3000-3500 before shifting. Any lower and it feels like the car always wants to go into boost and that's where the big time fuel consumption goes. For the record I can usually get about 28 50/50 city/highway which is where I do most of my driving. I would say as low as 22 mpg all city but as high as 32 mpg all highway.

I'm NA sport auto & pull 340 a tank of maybe 60/40 hwy/city driving with the hwy driving being 75-80mph & 13 or so to top off. AC no difference. About 24-25 mpg avg. I'm sure if I kept it under 70 that'd go up. Usually htiing 125-135 at 3/4 tank on gauge. Never moves from full until 70-80 miles. Hoping the MPI/wb02 + tune dialed in will yield a bit more after killing the rich ass afr I'm most likely sitting on while at usual hwy speed which is about 3300-3500 rpms.
