Well ladies, I got my replacement ballast today :D

I would of installed the kit and started this thread earlier but I promised my son I would take him to Chuck E. Cheese today. Anyway, I installed them after we got back... You know how hard it is to install bulbs when your hands are freezing?! lol

The light looks really poor in this picture but I can assure you it is a lot better in person

I think I need my driverside headlight adjusted. Look right in the middle of this picture, you see how the light isn't straight across? From the left it slants down a bit. I noticed this with the stock bulbs but now it's more noticeable with the HID's. Also, the driver side light bounces back at a 45 degree angle so there's light bouncing off of things as you pass them. Just catches things out the corner of your eye lol.

Navigation with the Dim setting on. Just wanted to show it off :D

Now to the verdict...

First off, sorry for the crappy pics. They are from my cell phone. I don't know what it is but the lights don't have a hint of purple in them if you see them in person but in the pictures they do...

12000K has noticably less light. Nothing major like i've heard a lot of people say, but noticable. However, the reflectors in the road and reflective signs light up more and further away than with the stock bulbs. If your main reason for getting HID's is visability (mostly everyone does want it for visability, I on the other hand wanted it STRICTLY for looks) then I DO NOT recommend the 12000K Kit.

Overall, I am happy with the way it turned out except for all the flaws in my driverside light that got brought to my attention with the installation of an HID kit. The bulbs are secure so I know there's nothing wrong with the bulbs bouncing around. I was expecting more of a violet but the lights are in fact a crystal blue type color. I'm actually glad that they turned out this color because i'm sure violet would have had a horrible light output.

I'm planning on getting some better bulbs for my fog lights. I want some yellow ones as I hear yellow is the best for rain and fog, correct? What brand bulbs would you guys suggest?

haha.. finally...you need take "better" pics for us...(attn)
I will soon. I just couldn't use my digi cam last night because the SD card is full and I didn't have time to transfer all the pics to my comp. So you have any suggestion on what bulbs to get for my fogs? I want some yellow ones that will actually help with seeing in rain and fog lol

Get HID 3000K it will out perform any halogen bulbs..(yippy)

it will make up for the loss of lumen by 12000K..(flash)

also Nice contrast between blue and yellow..(priceless)

I would but most of the under carriage splash guards got ripped off when I ran a tire over. I was on the freeway going about 75 behind some guy in a Benz. The car in front of him had a blow out and by the time the tire revealed itself from under the Benz, I ran right over the damn thing. Took out my passenger side fog light, ripped my grill in half, and I had to get a completely new bumper (sad2)

Anyway, insurance didn't want to pay for the covers for some reason and I was in no position to argue at the time because I needed the car back ASAP at that time.

So I wouldn't want to get another HID Kit just to have them get wet lol.

or.. have you heard about XPEL protective flim,, i use it on my HOnda,, you can choose its color (mine is yellow), it also protects your fogs from flying rocks..lol

OK, I will try those brands. I've never heard of the film. I'll look it up. I was hoping to have 'more' light though when it comes to the yellow fogs. What's the light output when using the OEM bulbs with the yellow film vs some yellow bulbs?

i know PIAA are good bulbs to have but bit on pricy side...

Xpel yellow film slightly decrease light output..but it protects fogs from possible costly replacement.

i did a little mod on fogs to use h9 bulb instead of h11..h9 has 10 more watt but has almost twice lumen than h11.

More info on this h9 mod please :) ...

Lumen difference is

H9
Halogen headlight - part #: H9

2000 +/- 240 lumen

H11
Halogen headlight - part #: H11

1250 +/- 150 lumen

Thanks for the link...

Does the difference in amount of lumen apply to ALL H9 bulbs? For example, if I got PIAA H9 bulbs would the PIAA H11's put out the same lumen since they are both made from the some company? Pretty much what i'm asking is will all H9 bulbs have more lumen than an H11 even if they are both made by the same company...

OK, Gotcha... So either way, H9's will out perform H11's... cool deal...

You know I was thinking, why did the guy widen the slots on his fog light when he could have just made those plastic things that go into those slots smaller on the H9 bulb? I'm gonna try it my way and let you know how it turns out :)

the reason the guy widen the slot was h9's 3rd(biggest) metal base is bigger than h11. i also widened one of slot to fit h9 instead of modifying bulb itself. (next time bulb goes out, i can just plug and play)..

lol I know why he did it... I just figure what's so hard about taking a razor blade and making the notch on the bulb smaller... will take you 2 minutes... You'll probably only change them out 1 more time during the life span of the car so i'm not too worried about spending two minutes each time on a set of bulbs :)

You are probably right..(usa)
then.. .. h9 has 120 hours life usage compare to 550 in h11..
i guess there must be some sacrifces..(screwy)

that was why i choose "widening the hole" instead of cutting the bulb..(you might change h9 sooner than you think)
