Deleting resonators and muffler?

so ok what is obd1 or obd2...I know they put something in my 2002 dodge intrepid muffler during inspection. Removing one cat and putting test pipe make any difference in emissions that wont make me pass??

Cars built after 1996 use a more sophisticated engine/pollution control system called OBD2.

i removed 2 resinators sounded good then i removed the 3rd resinators sounded 2wice as good i got the best sound when revoing the last resinator. That mufller looking thing on the end is really just a straight thru resinator not a muffler...

i can tell u it sound amazing not srt loud it a deep sound. and as performance it does make a noticable gain. i spin 2nd and 3rd gear more than before.

na the definition of a resianteor is the straight through desigen with hundreds of little wholes to pick up the air thats what that "muffler looking thing is" a true muffler has chambers etc..

you wont fail emissions unless you have a CEL. the lazy ass inspectors dont even look at the cars anymore. we brought my cousins 2004 supercharged mustang with full offroad exhaust....ZERO cats and it PASSED. all you have to do is keep the computer from throwing a CEL, its that simple. plus with a race pipe you still retain your primary cat. so, even if they did look....there is still a cat there so it would pass. there is no law that says you must have multiple cats. many cars have a single high flow cat that is CARB approved.
i may remove the resonators and keep the muffler on my MS3.

as long as u keep a cat in the downpipe or "trick" the ecu to think it has one, then i think you will pass the tests.

i will leave stock down pipe for now and instal test pipe(no cel) but in Ny are they are doing smog test i might fail it , I thing i Will cut out 2 resonators and leave muffler

honestly i have my cat and 2 resonators removed and even though it sounds nice i relised after i get my DP that my car is going to be reallllly looudddd sooo if i were to do it over i just remove the 2nd cat and get a catless DP

if you look up resiantor on the internet you will se pics of that muffler looking resinator at the end plus pics of "oval" looking resiantors in the middle. A "resianator" is a straught thru design with little wholes to pick up air and sound, its more likey that that muffler "looking" thing at the end is a resiantor rather than a muffler...if you where to place a bet per sa..

Listen people..If mazda wanted 3 resonators on the car dont you think they would use 3 of the same to keep costs down.Im not sure how some of you guys have never seen or heard of a muffler that uses the straight thru design,They have been on the market for years.I got my first straight thru muffler about 12 years ago.I would say the reason it is oval is because it has packing in it to absorb and muffle the sound.Go check out some shunk exhaust mufflers or some buddy clubs or even some hookers for some examples of straight thru mufflers.But like I said if mazda wanted 3 resonators they would use 3 of the same for cost reasons.If you guys want to think its a resonator then thats fine I guess..

no, they used the diff shapes cuase it effects the sound. The box looking resinator at the end has more restriction and more sounds absorbtion but it is the EXACT same thing as the other 2 ovals it just looks a little diff so people who don't understand stuff just say..."it looks like a muffler so its a muffler"...(lol2)
