What have you done to your MSP today?

really its been tested there isnt much difference hp wise between sri and cai

I know that, my only apprehension towards CAI is it rains alot where I live and the roads i travel always have standing water, I know Hydrolock is not prevelant but if you knew my knack for bad luck you would understand my fear of it happening to me, ha ha. That is why with the difference being negligable I am looking at SRI

i was planning on doing a forge bov along with the SRI, what other mods would be good?

depends on your goals. however if those are your first two mods, neither of those are really going to help except to make it sound "cooler"

assuming u have no mods...

Fuel Management (Split Second AFC 1 or 2)
Exhaust (ours is very restrictive)
Intercooler Upgrade (ours heatsoaks)
Then intake once the turbo can breath.

You can actually use the injen both as a cai and a sri if your on the fence with this one. All you need to do is make a hole for your Air Intake sensor when u decide to use it as a short ram. Many owners have done it, as do I.

They would be my first two, i got the car in november completely stock except for a vac/boost gauge, only drove it a month before I cut the top of my little finger off of my right hand and am finally driving again. so not much time to do other mods. I know they dont do much for performance but I would like to do them to prolong life of turbo (BOV) and get better gas mileage (Air intake)

I definitely want to do performance mods as well but am not that knowledgable in terms of what will give better performance over what looks nice but doesnt do s***.

that doesnt sound like a bad idea, how hard is that to do? and does it give you any problems with fuel cut?

They wont help the turbo and it wont give u better gas mileage. I understand u dont know much about the mods, thats y im tryin to help. If u want better gas mileage get the Fuel management first. The MSP dumps tons of fuel when it hits boost (you prolly feel a hesitation when steppin on it). That right there will not only help ur gas consumption but it will be alot more fun to drive.

The air intake cant do much if the back end of the turbo cant breath. Basically its an air pump, so its sucking in air, sending through engine, coming out and exiting. If its having trouble exiting the car (restrictive exhaust), then giving it the ability to suck more air in (intake) wont help

so the fuel management would improve mileage as well as remove the hesitation, and you are saying that it would take more than a straigt throu muffler the whole exhaust system would have to be changed?

Man, i am starting to realize i know absolutely nothing. thanks for your help.

yea itll help fuel mileage cause it will stop the ecu from dumping crapload of fuel during boost.

yea the muffler is just the end piece. A good rule of thumb to remember is your exhaust is only as big as its smallest component.

the cat pipe is really small. So id change from the J pipe back (j pipe is right after the downpipe of the turbo). How big depends on your end goal.

yeah i have the v1 and its the same as v2 with out the data log and i will agree fuel managment is amazing what it can do for these cars.

as soon as my income tax comes in. here are my plans.

new tires
alignment
inspection
new waterpump & retime my motor cuz its a bit off

all i need done for now. late spring/summer i'll get some rims.

I think that fuel management will probably be the first thing i do, exactly how does the system install? what is the average price I keep seeing about 300.00, is that right? what do you mean by v1 and v2 (noob question i know but thats what i am)

Thanks for all the input everyone, definitely appreciated.

ill sell you my ss afc v1 for 225 shipped. =) and only difference between v1 and v2 is that v2 can datalog if you have a wideband

yea 300 is good. even new its worth it.

v1 and v2 are the same except you can log data, which helps with tuning. If you plan on tuning yourself, get a boost gauge and wideband 02 gauge. you can put the afc on and drive with the map that comes with it, it adjusts based on psi, so youll be safe, but if u want to tune it to get optimal power youll need those 2 gauges. but u can get away with just slapping it on and driving it.

it installs by tapping and/or cutting / reattaching wires by the ecu.
