Stock TMIC outlet - upgrade?

So today was "ghetto mods" day including the coil spring fix, the crushed BPV, and enganear's trimmed shifter bushing mod (also shaved the door trim and blacking out the flying Ms).

Anyway, what's up with the outlet of the stock IC? This is the plenum that the BPV bolts onto. Looks really restrictive.

Does anybody make a replacement part for this or is it not that big of a deal.

Anybody?

Holy crap, once you buy the SU part plus the new silicone hose plus an intake, you're in FMIC territory price-wise.

Sheesh!

I think I have my answer now.

What is your answer? What intake are you after and FMIC? I have the COBB SRI and thats it. I am thinking about improving the current system with better parts so I am very interested in this cold pipe. People seem to like the silicone tubes SU makes, they claim to hold boost better and not leak. So a solid pice would be better right?

if I had it to do over again, I'd get the corksport front mount kit. that thing is bad arse.

+ is about the same price as a top mount and a cold air intake

all that says is "custom finished" cold pipe. as in poweder coated silver or black. it looks like a bad flowing stock piece to me.

Yea, I read somewhere that it was just a dress-up piece. No difference from stock, as per the internals.

Edit: you beat me to it ^

I was weighing whether to go TMIC or FMIC. Once you add up the cost of boost tubes and i/c outlet pipe, you're pretty much in FMIC territory and IMO the FMIC will clobber the TMIC in terms of performance.

I esp. like the corksport piece since it includes a sweet ram air intake that takes advantage of the stock hood design.

So corksport FMIC *is* my answer.

I agree 100%

the begi is a nice piece too. the only thing I don't like about it is that they use that huge plate to mount the pipe that goes over the engine block. I'd drill holes in it or something. might as well be getting the added cooling effect that the hood ducting is creating too.
