The MS6 Build-a-Beast is coming very soon...(Pics)

Some of the issues to my understanding with the motec was getting all the dash/gauges to work. Motec was paid a lot of money to get a working system, it didn't happen. I hope whatever you are using works. It's obviously fairly sophisticated.

I will keep an eye on your progress and am excited to see a full tuning solution.

As for staying on topic here. If the guy with all the mods is reading, be patient! Every car has it quirks and I believe we are not all that far off from making this work. You're car will be ready to go when it happens.

Peace.

It's great to know Ken is working on a standalone unit........ Ken have you exhausted all your options on contacting different manufacturers for your chipsets? Just checking, I know of a few companies (being in the computer field) that make chipsets when contracted for it .....can't say for sure if they'd take on your type of job but, yeah....

Chris don't sell the car, and don't give up man..... you're a pioneer, you'll live down forever amongst the mazda community, as the guy who did it all (thumb)

Seriously..... fly one of the PG guys out, or take your car to them, as ken said about removing your Standback.... it just seems like you have a horrible tune on the car, as if the guy who tuned it just didn't know exaclty what to do and made a few guesses here and there. you DID state that he was giving you bulls*** excuses about tuning/finishing the car, sounds like he bit off more than he could chew and realized he didn't know wtf to do with it, so "attempted" at what he considered a tune :(

I do feel your car would do a lot better if you got it tuned.

i am betting if the standback was removed and the bypass switch was run to allow the car to drive on the stock ECU this car would be doing just fine. i think there has to be a case of the world's worst tune on this car or some poor installation somewhere in the mix here.

Have you attempted this yet? It's all about troubleshooting to find the problem my brother.... have you tried putting the car back under the stock ECU's control to rule out the standback as having a crappy tune? (chair) or tried as mrlilguy said and with putting a stock pump back in? (though I'm leaning towards it being the problem with the Standback (not the hardware but the tune).

I put out a call to the only tuner I know that has a solution for direct injection/throttle by wire cars and they gave me a runaround about switching markets...

what ever happened to making money and providing a service to the customer

They did recommend CP-e though

Yeah, I'm currently looking for a stock ECU... but I realized, Protege Garage is supposed to be working on a standalone (at least I hope they are) so I'm gonna see what happens in a few months if they come out with anything.

Have you looked into the Euro/Asian market?

I tried getting info on that before..... there was a big talk almost a year ago on the other mazda6 forum about how someone, or people, in Germany had cracked their ECU? Everyone was asking proof and calling bulls*** on it, :(

ive been searching everywhere including the audi/vw dfi world and came up with nothing. I need a car

Stupid question, but........ have you tried going to a Mazda dealer and getting a number for an overseas dealer in Japan? Its possible they might know of a solution if one exists.

or possibly trying to see if Autoexe has something?

The only big issue that might come up with that, would be if they required you to get a different harness (like Japanese spec) to run whatever standalone you may find, that would suck to have to switch that out and rewire everything.

this system could be adapted to the ms3/ms6 with minimal effort;

http://www.vishnutuning.com/bmw_535_zero.htm

vishnu was initially responsible for the XEDE/chiptorque unit on this car and was at one point considering doing a ProCEDE unit for the car(s). the ProCEDE is light years beyond the XEDE and geared towards direct injection applications. i have heard nothing about this in recent months but think it may be time to rekindle the flame and interest on his end.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO.... $1300, now that's definitely a mod worth the price. Can it really be adapted to use on the MS6....but without any issues, and take control over the engine?

Sounds like you should give the guy a call and let him know we need engine help and get his ProCEDE going ;)

find a tuner

As Much as I hate to say this. Find some that is familiar with tuning direct injection. There is a few variable I'm not sure about, but I not a few supra guy that are running dirct injection, and they have tuned the MZR with a few bolt ons. Don't give up. This is a good car, and a great engine with a tone of potential.

I'll let you know more as I get my standback, and start tuning.

did his ebay auction sell? I just read this whole thread today, and feel like i'm in the Neverending Story. hahaha, I'm about to scream chris' name out the window.
Seriously, so disappointing to run into this hurdle. wtf. maybe there needs to be a lil fund raiser to get momentum built up again, and a proven successful build on the ms6.
