Gt3071 vs 50 trim vs etc.

So Jason from PG with his ms6 PMed me and he REALLY suggested the gt2871... I dont think I can go wrong with that turbo the more I think about it. And I can always upgrade again later if the supporting fuel and ems is there.

I guess if thats the route to go the next question is maybe this...

How cooperative should I be with the insistence(from my tuner) that I use an external wastegate with this turbo? What kind of differences would I expect to see?

Driver311, do you have an idea what the wastegate spring pressure is on the PG 2871? im also considering picking up this turbo and a fuel pump by end of next month

My guess would be a 14psi spring. I believe 2871r will be perfect for your needs brotha.

I've emailed them just to be sure, considering thats way more mass being flowed than the factory turbo, i would like more than just a fuel pump to be safe. are you planning to upgrade anytime soon? im just so tired of the car falling on its face up top.

Yeah... this discussion and the responses Ive gotten privately leads me more and more toward a smaller turbo than we'd all like to "ideally" run.

I just think we'll get the results, but with less problems.

Is the 2871r direct replacement or are we talkin about playing hide the salami with the manifold here? Why cant this s*** be plug & play like windows?

you'll need a vband downpipe fabbed from your local shop.

Well I just got a email from atp saying I should hold off on anything.... they have boltup kits for the ms3, INCLUDING downpipes, slated for release this month.

Somebody had mentioned that before, but I just heard it from the horses mouth.

So now its just a question of when we get the manifold from PG and whether a wastegate will work. Ken said it will, so I think Im set. GT2871r with PG manifold, external wastegate, and off to the races in March at the latest.

I am still intrigued by this 50 trim with .43 AR.............. If people (praise you palerider) are finally stepping up to the plate on replacement turbos, the next few months should prove VERY interesting....MWUAHHAHAHAHAHA............ come on AGP, time to bring the noise :) Within the next 7 months, I will be stepping up to the plate as well. I am currently working on all the supporting mods, which will take about 6 months or so for my bank account to recover from. Then there's the wife to deal with (thank God she is at least SOMEWHAT supportive of my habit......)

Whats the price listed for the PG manifold? the DNP is a very nice piece. im with you dude, same for me next month or no later than the first week of april depending on when these vendors decide to drop these parts.

im no horse.

I'd go with the bb 50trim, you can always use more boost and you won't run out unlike the 2871. You'll just have to deal with being in that gear longer is all.

The PG manifold is 399. I cant speak for the quality and whether the dnp is worth the extra 100 bucks. I ordered under the assumption that they were comparable.

I dont think with an upgraded turbo it will be boost that we "run out of".... Fuel, and rpms, on a stock engine, with the inability to tune.... is what we will run out of.

The one thing that continually bugs me is the fact that atp posted that goddamn dyno chart on the gt3071r. Grrrrrr.....
