wait, what exactly is an axel-back??

instead of starting right behind the cat, like a catback exhaust does, it starts right around the rear axle.

From the rear axle of the car toward the back bumper. If you look under the car you'll see the muffler section can be unbolted seperate from the entire exhaust, that's why axle-backs are cheaper because it's just the very last part off your exhaust and muffler!!

^^^ that's exact setup I've got. I do alot of hwy driving (over 75mph) and everything else is stock and I feel like its got a pretty bad drone at 3500k. I'd hate to see how it sounded with I/H/Midpipe! :-o

I couldn't talk to the person in the front seat. I have an intake, header, highflow MAM midpipe. All that in combo with the axle back the drone was so loud that I had to yell to talk to the person in the front seat.

The funny side is I sounded like honduh and set off car alarms in a two block radius.

Ive got a header and the mazdaspeed exhaust its not that bad to me but then i used to have a car with 2 and half inch piping all the way back. Was thinkin bout a midpipe but now im unsure.

Stay on the lookout in the For Sale section. I got a full cat-back Magnaflow setup for $180. I love the sound. It's not too loud, very minimal drone I feel at highway speeds. But, i've got a stock header and midpipe.

Mine, is an auto, with the sport shift mode. Having an auto doesn't mean you can't put an exhaust on the car,but an auto w/out the sport shift won't sound as cool unless you really punch it, cause it will shift at lower RPM's. With the sport shift, it acts like a stick because you have a little more control of how long you can stay in a certain gear, and can also mimic the down shifting of a stick! Seriously if you have da money and want performance go header and racing beat all the way, but if you want to spread money around to suspension mods and the like, for like $149.00 you can't beat it!(first)
