Don't know much about how this stuff works, but instead of a MAP clamp or other methods, will the AP have the ability to fix this issue? Or even to turn up boost overall (I see some people are safely using boost controllers) a bit?

It will have two options, one to keep the boost limited in 1st and 2nd so that SOME traction is possible, and one option that disables it just for funsies.

The AP has control over everything the stock ecu has control over, this includes throttle plate and boostl imit in 1st and 2nd.

cobble cobble ;)

last I heard, cobb was debating whether or not to remove the boost limit. I have a feeling that they will give 2 options but I don't think its been set for sure. I do know there has been enough requests for it that they are considering it, just depends on how it affects driveability.

remember that cobb is big on useable, reliable power

I trust their judgement

i think the ideal setup would be an option for no limit and allowing a scramble boost controller setup or other means of altering boost at the users discretion for traction purposes

it will probably be an option for even Scramble by reading their tech info. The Scoobies even have a 2-step and flat shifting map available only on the website, they don't come pre-installed. They said they have tuneable throttle mapping also, but it is all speculation ATM.

I would like to get keep the boost limit in 1st gear and maybe uping the boost a little in 2nd.

After having my Cobb SRI on for almost a week now I can say that it helps ALOT. Driving my stock MS3 I was kind of dissapointed in the inconsistant power output in 1-3rd gears, now the car just wants to rip the tires off! I suggest doing an intake to get more consistant power in the lower gears.

Pre-orders, Deposits, Lists

At this time we are not making any lists, taking deposits, or doing any types of pre-orders. Once we get information to the dealers they may, but that is something you will have to take up with them and they may make their own announcement on the forms, etc.

Projected Features

Improve horsepower, torque, and fuel economy at the touch of a button.
Display vehicle data such as boost, RPM, temperatures and more while you drive.
Easy installation, no mechanical or computer skills necessary.
Connects to your vehicle via the OBD-II port conveniently located under your dash.
Easy-to-read color display.
Update over the Internet to stay up-to-date with the latest features.
Not a "piggyback". Once vehicle's computer has been programmed by the AccessPORT, it can be removed and the settings will stay on your computer.
Not just an "ECU reflash" - AccessPORT features enhancements such as on-the-fly mode switching, data monitors, reading DTCs, performance monitors, boost cuts, boost reduction for speed and gears, fuel cuts, RPM limits, throttle body behavior, corrections, in addition to the normal functions like fueling, timing, and boost.
The AccessPORT downloads the actual map that was on it. If you are taking your car to the dealership and suspect that they will attempt to update your mapping, then you will have to unmarry it, take it in and have them flash it, then remarry your AccessPORT. This will allow your stock map loaded on your AccessPORT to be the latest factory revision.
Once the AccessPORT is married to the car only the AccessPORT can flash it. To allow the dealer to flash your car as normal you will have to unmarry the AccessPORT from your car.
The ODB II dataloging is not locked. Any device that reads the OBD II data can still function properly.
Only planned for the MazdaSpeed3 at this time.
Maps made by AccessTUNER Pro facilities can be shared, however the mapping can only be viewed by that AccessTUNER, not the end user nor another AccessTUNER.
Pre-calibrated to maximize performance of stock or modified vehicles*
Can be custom tailored to your vehicle by our extensive network of professional tuners**

* For modifications we have done calibrations for, not for every combo of parts
** May not be on initial release

Digest and Enjoy

personally i hope they make an option. limit boost for autox, get rid of the limit for drag racers using slicks

they don't even do that kind of stuff for Subarus so why would they have that for Mazdas? Cobb's goal has always been user friendly power for the all around driver. if you want these special maps you have to get the tuning software and do it yourself. It is very easy to change the maps with the tuning software. Changing boost is like changing it on any other option out there right now, a simple drop down menu.

True Red, problem is, we probably wont see that software until after summer. Thats a pretty long wait. IF we went to a Cobb dealer, cant they get us a custom map for our car?

I'm pretty sure the software will be different per car. I know the guys we deal with alot that do Subaru cars and I'm pretty sure they have different programs for certain engines/cars. I WILL look into that for you guys.
