Dyno with MBC @ 18psi

Finally got around to getting my car dyno'd after the atp bcd/mbc install. I always use the same dyno(dynojet) and the temp was 67degrees today. 65 degrees last time. Mods are cobb sri, txs racepipe, atp bcd/mbc @ 18psi.

Previous dyno (cobb sri, txs rp)- 266hp/280tq
Today's dyno (cobb sri, txs rp, mbc 18psi)- 273hp/293tq

Doesn't sound like a big gain...but the area between the two curves shows some gains of 20-25hp/tq in certain areas. I'm working on trying to get the file from the shop emaild to me as we speak. As soon as I get it, I'll post it up. A/F's were still rich. Under 11.5 by 4k under 11 after 5k. Maybe I have a boost leak...lol. Everyone else is running lean with boost @ 18psi. It would also explain the low peak numbers. Car runs good though....pulls hard. I'm going to try to re-ziptie everything and see if that makes a difference.

Let the number bashing begin...

not one person is running lean with an mbc at 18psi, these cars run pig rich. yours acts just like evry other ive seen. thats good hp though, thats 3 more hp than mine and i have the CS DP as well. im jealous , post the graph nga

The reason your peak wasnt higher is because with that setup the forge wont hold 18psi to redline. The stock dv wont allow it. Im guessing you were at 14psi where you peaked for whp. When i had your setup i had to spike 22psi to hit 18psi higher in the curve. The forge will help that alot. If you wanna hold boost even more then you will need to run a map clamp vs. the atp bcd.

I'm running the turbosmart mbc....boost tee...whatever it's called. I guess I need to change my sig? lol

Is there 'concrete' evidence supporting that the stock BPV leaks? if so link plz! i wanna read up

You're running the stock intercooler which means your turbo is pushing 20-21 psi for you to hit 18. THat's outside of it's efficiency range and the charge is overheated. You need a better IC to get that much boost out of the stock turbo.

Yeah I saw that thread. He said something about it not being able to hold above 14psi at all. I just have intake and I see about 15-16 in higher gears with the boost gauge. It just seems like something wasn't quite right the test setup or something...or his valve is just faulty or my boost gauge is off. Also cobb has stated the stock one has held up fine for them, and no other companies have really mentioned anything about it. I supposed it's still possible I'm just not totally convinced yet.

your not seeing that kind of boost where it makes peak power Ill tell you that. The stock dv leaks for sure. I tested it. Starts leaking bad at 12psi.

I just put a forge on the car and picked up 10whp from off idle to 4k and then around 20whp from 4k to 6.5k. I just havent posted the graph. That was on stock boost levels. would be alot more with a boost controller.

Post that comparison graph, I will then be convinced on my next upgrade.lol

there is no proof the oem bov leaks that ive seen so far, and plus im using the stocker and it holds 20-21psi max spike then tapers to 17-18 to red line, i can even turn it up to 19 psi to redline but the 22psi spike and too much boost seems to trigger fuel cut alot easier. why do you think the stock bov leaks? i bet if you installed your stock bov right now your boost wouldn't lower at all. just curious on your thoughts cause if it really true i wanna know about it. thanks

and also i just read your pressure test thread and i bet you forgot to add 12-18psi boost on the other end of the bov while tesing it huh???? that would make a huge differece. the boost pressure in the intake manifold is connected to the other side of the diaphram and helps it stay closed under full boost, its when your throttle plate shuts and the boosted side turns to vacum and releases the excess pressure after the turbo. so unless you though about that variable your test was worthless.

It's just better, why not upgrade it, it looks way better than the plastic stock valve, it also drives better with the Forge BPV.

He's right. You can test it yourself with a DIY leak tester. Forge was the first thing i added along with a CAI.
