Looking at these tenzos:

They cost $225 and I think i might powdercoat them gloss black cuz i've got a black mica, got an estimate for $60 per wheel. I would get them in 18"x8" with a 45mm offset and put a 235/40 tire on them with no drop. I've done a lot of searching but mostly just found talking about 48mm. Would this wheel and tire combination work

18x8 45mm will work. It's the 235s that you may have to reconsider. I'd say you wouldnt rub unless you were in a hard corner or some uneven pavement-type thing... but you will probably want to lower it eventually. Just go 225/40s...

I really want the 235s for more traction and also because i can get close to the stock tire diameter. I know i'm not going to lower it, definitely not before these next tires run out. Would it cause any rubbing that would be a significant issue?

Not under normal driving conditions but watch-out with a lot of weight in the back! I just put 235s on mine. I was all set to declare victory and then hit a big dip on the 405 in LA. The stock suspension was just too bouncy and there was too much weight. One of my rear tires touched the inside of the fender. Fortunately no real damage. But I am gonna take it over to a shop and have the fenders rolled to avoid any chance of it again. That may also allow me to drop it a bit but I'll see what they say.

Having said all this - you will love the 235s. They look much better and the improvement in grip is great.

Yeah D_roc they are DC-6's.
Thanks for the advice i think these are the ones that i'll go for. Would finding a place to roll the fenders be hard or is it somewhat common?

just need to find a place that will gaurantee that they wont chip or screw up the paint. Cause one of my buddies had a shop do this to his civic and they chipped the paint so Id be careful. This was done on my P5 without a problem though..so thats a good thing.

Alright, but they were responsible for the chipping and had to pay for a repair i assume, right?

On mustangs, i would take a razor blade and score the paint under the fender lip. Than, jack the car up from the rear center, slide a baseball bat to the rear of the fender atop of the tire. Lower the car down.. than slowly drive forward. The bat would move forward rolling the fender. This is the more sane way of the do it yourselfer approach. Most places tin snip the bottom edge of the fender, beat the hell out of it with a hammer, than use body filler, sand and paint.

i've seen tools to do this, so you dont need to paint after. i cant remember where. my buddies used to run a defunct shop here in detroit but i cant remember where i saw those tools for purchase. it wa basically some kind of roller though. i'm sure you could look it up.

This is the tool used by the places I contacted locally. They heat the fender a bit so the paint does not crack and then use this to create a smooth roll...

Well in the picture but according to the site there is a: "Tenzo R DC-6 - Charcoal Wheels 18" x 8", 5/114.3 & 5/100, 45" available. Not sure what the 5/100 means, but this will work on the speed3s i believe. Someone correct me if i'm wrong please.
