1.8L Engine Parts

Alright I know this has been asked many times but now I actually need this information. So I'm thinking of possibly rebuilding my 1.8L engine over the summer and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to find performance parts for this engine. It seems almost impossible to find parts with the handful of sites I know. I'm also thinking of doing a possible 2L swap as well. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Bart

the 2.0L parts are much easier to find and you can build that engine up a lot better than the 1.8L,
tho the only really difference btw the two are: engine (and all parts inside) and tranny, everything else for a 2.o should work on a 1.8

Wouldn't that be the entire drive train? lol Thats like saying the only difference between the 4 banger stand and the 5.0 is engine and tranny.... or am i completely misunderstanding you?

Im pretty sure the 1.8 is just a destroked 2.0 everything else is the same

thats what I said but thats not the only difference........sorry......but they are very similar.......

Many parts are different between the 1.8 and 2.0. Almost everything from the cylinder head and down is different including the block.

If you are doing a 2.0 swap you can use the 1.8 pistons for more compression. Also the 1.8 cams are slightly hotter so just slap the your 1.8 head on the 2.0 or just install the 1.8 cams on the 2.0.

Edit I'm 70% sure the cams are different let me look into it some more...

I wanna buy headers but the only place i know, this people only got headers for 2.0 engines and mine is a 1.8 my questions is will the 2.0 header fit on my 1.8 motor?

thank you!!

yes, it does fit, i have one on my car! make sure you put in the O2 sensors in first then bolt it up.

The 1.8 FP is a destroked version of the 2.0 FS. The block hight is different so you cannot covert the FP into and FS without changing the entire shortblock. The head is the same between the two engines so you can swap it and the intake and exhaust manifolds if need be. The cams for the FP have slightly *less* duration so I would stick with the FS cams (FS-ZE cams are the best though.) Also the valve cover and coil packs are different but are interchangeable as a set. +1 for protegefaq.net it has the specs for the cams etc.

The transmissions are different but should bolt up to either block. I *think* the bellhousing on the FP's transmission is smaller so you may need to swap the FP flywheel and clutch over if you are reusing your stock transmission.

if i put the headers on my car is there anyway for the CEL to come on? or it will stay off as long i have both o2 sensors connected

If you don't have a cat between the two O2 sensors then you should get a CEL. There is a thread about using nonfoulers to trick it into not tripping the CEL.

I am putting a p
FP in my car now and it originally had a 2.0l trying thfp because of it bore and stroke 82mmbore and 83mm stroke. Vs fs of 82 and 95stroke. More square rotating assembly yeilda better to higher rpms. I had to bolt the flywheel and clutch from fs to it to use fs trans but all seems well so far. Hoping to have it running soon building down pipe for turbo set
