Where do you work and how much do you make?

I work at Walmart as a cashier. 8.50/hr

It's really easy, and I am still just in college.

In the future, I'd like to coordinate people's retirements, financial planning etc.
+1 for college jobs - I've done everything from working retail to officiating intramural sports for some cash.

But consulting, eh? My g/f big into that but she wants to do corporate. I keep telling her the big money is in personal consulting - the only problem is you have to build up either a big client list or a small list of big clients. Either way, she is going to make more money with a business finance degree than I will ever make with my lowly engineering degrees, sigh... LOL

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE engineering, but I love money more.

Plus arithmetic is a lot easier than Trigonometry.

I'm 33, work as a sys admin in the DC area, but I also have some other financial dealings overseas and I make enough to have pay off my condo in 3 years. I'm comfortable :) I do other stuff with my money, but it's not something I do to brag about... I'm 'frugal' which is why I have a Civic, an 8 yearold truck, and an 16 yearold Miada. Sure I can afford to get a new flashy Euro sedan, but my money is better spent elsewhere.

Not like it's a big deal.. maybe just a typo but... how come your profile says you're 43? On a sidenote... looks like we have the same birthday! K Car ftw

Yes, I drive a protege wagon. I bought the car a couple of years ago when I was making a lot less and was just out of school, and spending a lot on a car wasn't what I wanted to do. Saving for a house was far more important to me at the time. And now things like new light fixtures to replace the ugly 70's ones in my condo is more important to me than a fancier car.

Kudakev i only Have my 2 transmission tests to go in may. Also note i'm only 20 yrs old. So in May i will be a master tech.

Well I'm in college and I tutor other kids in Accounting for $25 and hour.

Other than that no job.

I have one and a half years left to get my undergrad in Accounting (Graduate in Spring of 2009). Then I plan to stay at Florida State to get my Masters of Accounting (Fall 2009-Spring 2010). Once I get that, then I'll sit for the CPA exam that summer and the next fall (2010) I hope to enter law school at a yet undecided school to persue a degree in Mergers and Acquisitions. That will be another 2 years in law school, so I'm looking to finally be done with everything in Spring of 2012.

After that I'll enjoy my time taking baths in pools of money and ploting World domination.

LOL sounds like you've got it all pretty well mapped out there. Try not to forget us little people when you conquer the world.

im a corrections specialist in the marine corp. the pay isnt that great, about $2600 a month but i have full medical coverage for my family so its ok.

the job its self isnt bad if you dont mind working 24 hour shifts and dealing with douch-bags all day. but i tell them what to do and they listen.

Well i work in the help desk and i make $33,700 a year with med and dental. i think i'm doing pretty good being that i'm only 19. Eventually i want to gain enough experience to become a network admin / engineer

Yes, they were, so as of today add about 1% to the american dollar. Of course, a few years ago the candian dollar was less than 70 cents US, and we were paying less (in absolute terms) for things like cars and books, but all the whiners seem to forget that when the prices are different now. Or that stores and companies can charge whatever they want to for their products and services.

I'm 20, i'm in the wireless tellecommunications industry as a Field Engineer, salary is $47k, full medical, cell phone, laptop, $500/month car allowance, gas, apartment in Atlanta

An Enlisted petty officer 1st class @18yrs-19yrs doesn't even make 35-37K. I don't know how you guys are making 50+K a yr unless you are a (Pilot)????

If you are including Re-enlistment bonuses, that does not count as a steady base pay!!

The way i see it though is

Your average people's..................YTD income:

0-18,000..............(very uncommon)
18,000-25000..........(common)
25,000-38,000.........(normal)
38,000-45,000.........(Average)
45,000+.................(Wealthy enough)

Anyone making 6six figures a year and works for a good company will not drive a Mazda or beat up winter car. Does not look good for company Presence.

I know that there are people out there that like to save money and do other things first. But it's just uncommon to work in (business company) makin close to six figures or more and drive a 86 Corolla.

People who do work in a (business company) know its all about (Presence).
