New Mazda3 Owner needs help - Remote starter

Well I picked up my new Mazda3 GS today equipped with a Remote Starter. As I left a restaurant on my way home i used the starter. Once i got in the car the interior lights wouldnt go off and then when i got home the car wouldnt turn off. I feel like a moron but it took forever for the car to turn off, and i still am unclear on how to use this new starter. And more importantly how to turn it OFF!

Any help or tips for me out there??(confused)

Remote Start

Welcome ! . . . congrats on your first post !
Is this an 'after market' remote, or a genuine Mazda accessory ?
Most remote starters come with a 'User Guide' that has instructions on all the features, and how to use them. Suggest you contact your dealer to see if they have any literature, or can provide instructions on the use of your remote. Most remotes are similar in operating features, and these features are usually programmed into the cpu of the remote at installation.
I added an 'after market' remote, as it cost considerably less than the Mazda remote,
had a few more features, and came with a printed 'User Guide' ! (thumb)

This was a Mazda dealership installed part. We got a manual, which was not the greatest and it said once started, unlock the vehicle, get in and put the key in the ignition and then step on the break to disengage the remote starter. This didnt work this morning. The only way i figured out how to turn it off is to hold the start button down.

Seems silly to have to stop the remote starter this way and then restart the car? I think i need a 101 from the dealership.

Not sure about the Mazda system, but you turn the key to the run position, after inserting the key -
making sure you don't turn it all the way to the start position !
The vehicle automatically locks the doors once the remote start is used, as a theft deterent.
So you have to unlock it to gain entry.
Should anyone attempt to drive the car, the engine will stop running if the brake pedal is depressed,
(. . . to put the car in gear) again, as a theft deterent.
A quick 101 from the selling dealer is in order, and should help ! (dunno)
